  • Looks like a great menu for the week!!
  • I feel your pain! It was so difficult when my bf wasn't on board, supportive, but not really into totally cutting out all the crap. So I would also fall off the wagon every weekend. When I decided to do the Whole30 I just explained what I was doing and that I would not be buying or cooking anything that was not in line…
  • I'm on day 9 of the Whole30, which includes cutting out dairy. I've never cut out dairy in my life before! Committing to this 30 day program has really helped me stick to the Whole30 guidelines and the online support here is amazing. The only `dairy`allowed is ghee, so you can use that to replace your butter. And I use…
  • Awesome! I just joined:)
  • Jamk - so inspiring! I love eating this way and I know it's good for me, but reading so many amazing results is really uplifting. I've never really felt any sensitivities to food, but I've struggled with 10-15 lbs overweight for years (from quitting smoking and going from a very active job, to a desk job). I know it…
  • They are something you really have to get used to, which I did when I ate them, I was so used to granola bars being sweet and gooey like a chocolate bar that when I tasted Kashi, it seemed like sawdust. I can't stand a 'real' granola bars anymore.
  • I just started reading It Starts With Food. Such a good book, unfortunatly work has been cutting in to my reading time! I actually bought it online and read it on my laptop or iPhone. I did the same with the Primal Blueprint. Just an idea if you don't want to keep waiting for it:)
  • I started mine yesterday! But ya, apparently there is a big one starting Aug 1.
  • Yup sounds like the carb flu! Don't get discouraged if it gets worse, it does go away!

  • I would recommend a lot of reading! Finding recipes and foods that are easy to make and without crazy ingredients:) www.marksdailyapple.com has a section where he lists a bunch of paleo blogs, that's where I started. Good luck!
  • Hey, you definitly have to cook them otherwise you're absolutely right, the texture is just awful. One or two comments up I posted a blurb on how I eat plantains, give them another chance! :)
  • If you get them green, they aren't sweet at all, a little tough to peel but they are actually really good to add to soups and stews. I lived in Ecuador for a few years and we ate them regularly. Another way is to thinly slice and deep fry, or cut in 1/4 to 1/2 inch rounds, fry in a little bit of oil for a couple minutes…
  • Hi there, I'm pretty new too, feel free to add me!
  • I do log my food otherwise I'm not very good at staying on track as I'm still getting used to eating this way. I find it a good way to learn about food too, it's interesting to me. Plus I am trying to shed a few pounds and tracking my food helps with that.
  • You are not alone! I was fine Saturday and Sunday not so much. I can usually stay within my calorie goal but it's definitly not paleo (perogies last night!!!). As you said, it's easier for me during the week because I bring lunch to work and my dinners are planned.
  • If i'm going to be gone that long I will cook it on my low setting and my food has turned out fine. I think the standard is 5-6 hrs on high and 8-10 on low. I think...
  • sorta funny, my boyfriend (and his brothers) gets the meat sweats after eating a big portion of meat. They are serious meat eaters mind you but maybe it is the high protein diet.
  • I am, its good, I'm not hungry, I feel really good about what I'm eating and don't feel deprived. I'm feeling a slightly sluggish from cutting out the carbs though, but from what I understand that is normal and will not last.
  • I like to use greek yogurt instead of sour cream. If i'm just wanting yogurt though, I'll mix 1/2 cup of yogurt with 1/2 cup of almond milk and add my own berries, sometimes honey if I'm feeling the need for something sweet.

  • Have you tried almond or coconut milk? I use either one and really like them both.
  • This is hilarious, I'm on day 4, the last three days I though my eyeballs were going to explode from behind, today I feel good! Now I'm worried I'm going to kill someone! hahaha Well, at least I know I'm right on track:) Oh ya and thank goodness my day 6 is a Saturday!
  • I'm totally guilty of this, I log faithfully during the week, its easy to eat well when you pack your lunches every day, and have everything planned. Then the weekend comes, and my diary is left blank. I'm glad someone posted this topic though because it makes me think about it and perhaps I will attempt to log on weekends…
  • Today I mixed a can of tuna with a little bit of chopped red onion, chopped celery, diced baby dill pickles and mixed it all together with avocado instead of mayo. I had seen a recipe somewhere awhile ago about the whole replacing mayo with avocado and it didn't sound very appetizing even though I do love avocado. Moral of…
  • check out www.againstallgrain.com, she makes a grain free pasta I think. I haven't tried it yet but it doesn't seem to hard.
  • I am/was (mostly 'was' now) totally scared of the fat! Low fat has been the way to go for so long, it's hard to reverse that. It's hard to give up and change old habits. I'm working on it though, olive oil and my salad every day, sauteeing veggies and not being as conservative with fat use...it's weird because it doesn't…
  • I log my breakfast, lunch and dinner from the night before in the morning right before I eat my breakfast. I usually don't have dinner planned ahead and I kept forgetting to log at night. This works much better for me:)
  • Alberta, middle of nowhere! (Bonnyville) it's hot hot hot!!!
  • haha EXACTLY what I was thinking
  • More protein and veggies! Good luck:)
