Hi Dawn, I was fit in my 30's and after multiple injuries, was sidelined and gained weight. My job also changed from a very active one to a desk job. The one thing that I find that really helps is taking an aquafit class or just walking in water with water "toys", so I get an upper body work out as well. Check to see if…

Hi Ashley, awesome goals!! They are very close to mine. :) add me as a friend for support along the way. Alicia

Hi Jane, My surgery date for the RNY is March 1st. I've lost 75 pound in the last 2 years trying to work it down. I still have about 150 to go. Everyone has an "Aha" moment when the tipping point between the risk of surgery and the risk of other conditions caused by obesity happens. Mine was when I herniated a disc in my…

I've been on a plateau for a month, but my measurements have been decreasing still. Look at other things besides the scale right now to see how your are improving. Measurements, how much harder you have to work to get to your target heart rate during a workout. How much easier it is to walk and how much more energy you…

I have access to a recumbent bike at work and home. 20 to 25 minutes twice a day is where I am now. I started out with 15 minutes the first time, three months ago, and could barely do that. It seems that things come back faster now, but if I'm down for a few days (ie sick), I hurt until I get back on the exercise track.…

Thank you!! I now have a list of things to do, and have included your ideas! They really helped!!

If you don't have any issues with Cholesterol then, in the short term, it should not be too much of a problem. It might be better if you switch some of the protein to beans and lentils, lower in fat and high in protein, but there are more carbs than meat. The fiber helps off set that as well thou. If you have insurance and…

WELCOME!! You are in good company. :flowerforyou: Add me if you would like some encouragement along the journey to weight loss and healthy habits

Hi all, Feel free to add me. I'm working on a very large weight goal (100+ pounds). I've lost over 60 pounds in the last year and a half. 20 plus since August, when I joined MFP. I'm a tech nut, so like my techy toys...now it's techy fitness gear. :) If you want to be encouraged, add me :)

You can build muscle at a calorie deficit, but you need at least 60 mg of protein a day (for women and that's from my dietician). I

Losing too fast especially after the first few weeks can impact your health negatively. I've lost 9 pounds in the last two weeks, but I changed how I was eating with my doctor's advice. Because I have so much to lose (over 200 total, and I've lost over 25% of that in the last year) I do consult my doctor and a dietitian.…

I have lots more to lose, but working on it daily, meal by meal. :) You can do it!! Add me if you want encouragement and someone who is on the same journey.

Hi Macy, I've been on my weight loss journey for over a year. I've lost over 50 pounds between Weight Watchers, a weight management class and now MFP. I love the MFP and the tools it provides. I log everything, even non-nutrative sweetener. I still have quite a bit to go. I walk at least 4 to 5 times a week, and I'm up to…

From everything I've read, its due to using up easily accessed carbs for energy and then using protein for energy. To help offset this, you'll need to consume more protein. My daughter was a long distance runner in high school, and she did not consume enough protein for the muscle growth.... that happened during her second…

Dang...I have a pic too....

 Hey there, I'm in the same boat, and am on that journey. Please feel free to add me as a friend, ask questions, etc. I am working toward RNY bariatric surgery as well, and have lost 51 pounds in the last year...13 here on myfitnesspal. I still don't know if I will go through with the surgery, that's still a few…

It really does depend on a few factors. Your weight level and fitness level. I am very obese and my doc recommends that if it hurts pull back on the activities a day or so. This is to prevent injury which would put me out of commission walking more and more often. So taking a day off to let your muscles recover and build…

I walked for 30 minutes during lunch today, and my knees didn't ache when I got back to the office!!! Wooo Hooo!!

Yep, I keep single serving packets of salmon and rye crackers in my desk at work just for the afternoon pangs. They always seem to happen around 3pm.

I herniated a disc in my lower back almost two years ago, with loss of feeling in one leg and ongoing sciatica issues. I also have three additional bulging ones. I've learned to do cardio while sitting, moving my legs, just like the videos I have. I've been doing a chair version of zumba since found out about it after…

It seemed like it to me too, but I don't eat all my calories during the day. I am working on feeling satisfied, and not deprived, so it all works out. Different mental game for me

Remember you have the right to be respected no matter what weight you are. Ignore the oaf, only someone who is not happy with themselves will put others down to make themselves feel better. HUGE HUG!!! You are doing an AWESOME job!!! Keep going!!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Cookies with chocolate and cream....like oreos and chocolate covered graham crackers, mystic mint cookies.:noway: ...I can't keep any of these in the house and know about them. I'm soooo glad they make snack size packages that you can buy. Makes keeping on track much much easier.

 Bacon!!! You have an awesome daughter!!

Apparently I need to get new pants. One of my girl friends said it looked like I let the air out of them.

I ad watch and we eat what whole foods are on sale, meat, dairy, fruits and veggies. We also buy in season. On the oatmeal, I get instant or quick oats, plain, just the large cylinder. When I get home, I split it into portions 1/2 cup oats, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp raisins. We add sweetner after we microwave it with a cup of…

I can so relate!! When my daughter was in first grade, it was up at 5am, out the door by 6am to catch a bus to her school, drop her off. Take a bus and a train to work...then reverse that at 5pm but home by 7pm. Dinner, bath for the kiddo and it's already 9pm. I was ready to drop. I took my breaks and lunches as…
