  • There is a cardio item named "Strength training (weight lifting, weight training)" and all you have to do is put in the amount of time you did that. It will calculate the calories just like everything else then. Hope that helps!!
  • I stay below my calories most days, but seem to be over on my sodium EVERY day!! I drink more water to help dilute it out of my system. I look at calories being the most important to me...
  • Gonna sound wierd, but I am a drummer as well and I have a habit of 'clicking my teeth' to the beat of the music I'm listening to. I have tried to consciously stop many times, but find myself doing it again just minutes later. It's a habit that sometimes I don't even realize I'm doing. Just something I started doing when I…
  • Me and my wife have to go seperately to the gym on weekends because of my work schedule and there is no child care at the gym on weekends for our 21 month old daughter. We don't see a difference in weight loss whether we work out in the morning or in the evening. However, me personally, I feel much better during the day…
  • I'll definitely be in for the next month - I'll be watching for it to start!! THANKS EVERYONE!!!
  • Well, since my last post in early March - I decided to take a couple months and see if I could do the whole weight loss thing without this site. I definitely realized how much this site helps me LOSE the weight. I did very well, and maintained my weight over the past 2 months without recording anything. However, now me AND…
  • How about Gatorade G2??
  • I fully agree!! We are all here to support each other, not bring each other down. That's the biggest reason I joined, was the support. And it has helped me many times, even when my posts have been a repeat of a previous one. :o) Anyways, I agree - TOOT AWAY, YOU DESERVE IT!!
  • $2.99/gallon here in Iowa/South Dakota...
  • I can feel myself slipping back into my old habits. Starting to drink soda again, having sweets more often again. I'm happy with the progress I'm making and know I can do much more, but I am giving in more and more to temptation every day... Like today - this is the first day I have worked a 'day shift' in probably 4…
  • The one thing that has helped me, however, is that I don't eat anything bigger than 100 calories within an hour before going to bed. I don't know if that helps you, but just thought I would mention it. Good luck!!
  • Thanks all of you that responded when I was worried about my weekend off outta town. Even with all the splurging I did this weekend, I still managed to lose 1 pound since my last weigh in on 2/21/08!! That's definitely a motivator - knowing I could take a weekend now and then to splurge and still loose the weight! Thanks…
  • We're out of town this weekend visiting my wife's family, and I know I'm going to totally break my diet... I suppose that after 2 months of straight weight loss and dedication I'm due for a weekend of relaxation and fun (and to eat whatever)... HAHA... Well, I just hope I can get back on track when I get home Monday...
  • Calesthenics (situps, pushups) is listed in the Cardiovascular section. Just input how long it took you to do those sets and then it will give you the calories burned. That's how I have been inputting my pushups, ab crunches, situps, etc. (aside from also adding the sets/reps into the strength section)
  • Are you putting it into cardio or strength training? There is an exercise listed under the cardio section as 'pushing stroller' and all you have to do it put in the time and it will give you the calories burned. Hope this helps!
  • I don't think that filtered water is necessarily higher in sodium, but softened water is. That's what makes the water soft, the sodium replaces the minerals that WERE in the water before softening. Personally, I tend to lean towards bottled water or water run through reverse osmosis (getting a system in my house soon).
  • I had the same exact issue when I tried diet pills last summer. I would assume (from my experience) that the diet pills may be causing the issue. On a personal note, I don't trust any diet pills anymore. I'm an EMT as well as a hospital security officer, and I have seen what those diet pills can do to even people taking…
  • Lost 22, 33 to go, 3" lost off my waist, and $20 spent tailoring new uniforms 1 month after I bought them... HAHA
  • I have a problem - I am losing weight at a good rate, however I am not a fruit/veggie person (I do like green beans and corn, that's it). So, my issue is that I am always going over my sodium count, usually by quite a bit. Anyone have any tips or tricks to counteract the amount of salt I am eating?
  • Since I started December 7th, I've lost 20 lbs. and at least 3 inches off my waist! I had to take both pair of my brand new uniform pants in to have the waist brought in already last week!
  • I went to one of my favorite restaurants tonight, where I usually LOVE to overeat. Well, I skipped the appetizer (unusual for the old me) and only had 1 glass of soda (I used to drink 4-5 glasses at dinner here). I also just got a shredded beef pita bread quesadilla. I feel good, because this is the first time I went to a…
  • I don't know what I'm doing wrong!! I started @ 256 around the end of December. I got down to 236 on the 1st of February, but am back up over 240 now. I have only gone over my calories once, and it was only about 50 calories. In fact, the only thing I ever go over on is my sodium. I do drink my 8-10 glasses of water per…
  • Everything I have ever heard states that the more sodium in your diet, the more water you'll retain in your body.
  • When I'm at work, I have a 1/4 cup of Honey Nut Cheerios about every 2-3 hours with a 20 oz. bottle of water. Curbs my cravings and helps me fight my cholesterol at the same time (mine's a little out of whack).
  • I live in Sioux City, Iowa, home of Jolly Time Popcorn. This ("popcorn lung") is completely true, and I have seen this issue increasing at the hospital I work at with persons that worked at this popcorn plant. However, the makers of Jolly Time were one of the first companies to get rid of that particular ingredient. We…
  • You have to enter the calories the other website I provided gives you once you calculate what it is you did/your weight/time duration of said exercise. You have to add the exercise as your own on MFP...
  • I must agree as well - eating 5-6 times per day (small meals) does give you a lot more energy and does seem to help in losing the weight as well!
  • At the top of the screen, click 'My Home' and then just underneath that then click 'Check-In'... That will allow you to track your weight... Welcome and good luck!!
  • I don't think the strength exercises add any burned calories. At least, I have seen any added from the pushups and situps I do every-other day... EDITED TO ADD: Try this website. You choose calesthenics (spelling??) light/moderate effort and then how long you did your situps/pushups, etc... Found this just a minute ago!…
  • 10-12 glasses of water a day. I'm burning on average 300-600 calories a day and usually not getting close to the calorie limit I have right now (2,030). I just needed some encouragement! Thanks!!
