  • congratulations!
  • i generally have a couple small treats and call it a day. i have to have at least one piece of peanut butter fudge every year, and because i'm not making a sheet of it myself, the office is where that happens. it's a challenge to eat just a little some years, but then i picture the person making it and imagine their kids…
  • i eat there almost daily. they have a ton of healthy options that taste great, and it's portion controlled, so that makes it a great part of my maintenance plan. turning to the menu selection in the OP, however, i'd have to point out that the sandwich described is at least 1,200 calories with 56 grams of fat. that's two…
  • could be the fiber; high amounts of it can be a trigger. i would also advise to be careful with caffeine. that doesn't mean you can't have fruits and veggies, but there might be certain combinations that aggravate the condition. of course, my triggers may not be your triggers. since you're here and are probably logging…

  • i drink decaf, have a couple sticks of gum, and maybe a few crackers or nuts before my pre-dinner workout. give it enough time, and your body gets used to it. however, delay my dinner, and i turn into a pumpkin pretty quickly. i'm institutionalized when it comes to meal times.
  • Allen Carr's book did it for me. it was my third attempt, and that one was much simpler than the previous attempts. book is called "the easy way to stop smoking." i quit June 16th of 2008.

  • i do sets of 60. really slow push ups i could probably do less of. however, when i started, i struggled with 10, so at least i'm getting better. for me, pushups are also great for warming up when the house is chilly. best way i've found to go from feeling cold to normal body temperature in under two minutes.
  • food without calories is food without calories. for diet coke to slow your weight loss, you'd have to eat something with it. sodium can make you retain water. water is not fat.

  • Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses. seems like every time i go to buy groceries, that song is playing on repeat.
  • i came in under my maintenance calorie goal, also. the Thanksgiving meal was the usual ~2,000 calories, but i offset by skipping lunch and by exercising all day long. i am now very tired, but happy. luckily, we had a beautiful day, so i was able to exercise outside. count that among the many things that i am thankful for.
  • his BMI is 20.5, which is still in the 18-25 healthy range.
  • though i'm not the jealous type, i pick alone. sharing romantic partners usually ends in disaster. count me out.
  • i've found my Thanksgiving dinner intake to be around 2,000 calories. my strategy is that i skip lunch that day, and i exercise a lot before dinner. on the day preceding and on the day after, i also cut back from my usual intake to make up for it.
  • underweight is below 18; overweight is above 25. i find it hard to believe anyone could be too thin with a lean body mass index of 22. most of the "too thin" comments come from those who knew me when i weighed more than 250. people who meet me for the first time just assume that i have always been this weight.
  • they do it to guys clothing, too. i wear a 29 in some brands of jeans, and a 32 in others. slacks range from 32 to 34 waist. my take : just measure it in inches so i don't have to try on 50 pairs just to see how honest you are in labeling the product.
  • it can be a bit annoying, especially when your BMI is in the health range. mine is 22, and i get some "too thin" comments sometimes. not too many, though; most people are pretty supportive.
  • welcome, and i hope you feel better soon. UC sucks, but there are disorders that are worse. that's what i tell myself, anyway.

  • i'm also sensitive to fiber, but oats don't seem to set me off. i read a book (i think it was called breaking the cycle or something; it promotes the impossible to follow specific carbohydrate diet.) in the book, they recommended saccharine as the least irritating of the artificial sweeteners for UC. i'm not sure how…
  • you might try giving oatmeal a shot as a replacement for sweet snacks. i really like brown sugar (160 cals) and apple cinnamon (130 cals.) sometimes i add 2/3 of a pack of stevia, and i always sprinkle with powdered cinnamon. the oatmeal packets keep me full for a long time. i use water to prepare the oatmeal.
  • the first Hostel. i decided halfway through that one that i would never see another movie like that ever again. i have kept that promise to myself.
  • subway probably has the most healthy choices of any fast food restaurant. i eat there often, and i use it as part of my maintenance plan.
  • for me, it's been calories in / calories out, although i do choose fairly low fat options most of the time. i haven't read this entire thread, but i assume it's another rant against some processed food or something. i eat those, too, but once again, i watch my calorie intake, and i exercise a lot. i'm on maintenance, and i…
  • i'm on maintenance, so i have a little of everything from time to time, and i work it off with exercise. however, there are a few calorie dense foods that i don't have anymore because they just simply aren't filling enough to warrant the caloric expense. a few that come to mind : milkshakes. i have always loved them, but…
  • i used BMI and the met life tables to choose my goal weight. BMI : http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ met life tables : http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/met.htm
  • i'll quit logging my meals here when : a. the site goes defunct b. my heart's ability to pump blood to my brain and vital organs goes defunct. while dropping 110, i made myself the promise that i would not ever have to do this again. i have been logging maintenance for several years now on various sites, and intend to keep…
  • i eat subway for dinner a lot. it's part of my maintenance plan.
  • decaf tea is full of toxins? first i've heard of that. anytime you hear something like this, i would confirm it by looking at real, peer-reviewed studies. you can find the database of them here : http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed there is a lot of unscientific woo out there. as for giving up caffeine, i did so in 2010. it…
  • when i had my worst flare in 2009, i had to cut back some because i was so sick. if i'm having a moderate flare, i try to keep my usual routine. i just play it by ear; i want to stick to my routine as long as it doesn't make things worse. i will say that i get very tired during flares. my regular exercises are exercise…
  • welcome. i worked in your city for two years, and i found it to be a great community. best of luck on your weight loss journey.
  • wow, did i ever love that feeling the first time. another great moment was when a store asked me for a second ID because i looked nothing like my license photo; the cashier actually called a manager. i cheerfully explained that i'd lost more than 100 pounds. that was awesome.
