  • I'm a night shift RT, I've been on nights for 11 years. I I have lost 65 lbs over the last 2 years,It has been in 2 phases. 1st phase I used WW and lost 35 then plateau'd and gained back 5-10(depending on the day) Switched over here and with lots of cardio lost what I had gained back plus 25-30 more for a total loss of 65…

  • Giggle. Cool. Although my dogs are the laziest! of course 1 of them is 16 years old, and the other is 12:happy:
  • Basically this,I do still eat meat, but have days where I am totally lacto-ovo vegetarian. Agree, its not a diet, its a lifestyle change to focus on health. Part of that is knowing that its ok to eat something I want as long as i'm otherwise making healthy choices. Not paleo, not "clean" just focused on closer to natural…
  • Ninerbuff, thanks for being the voice of moderation and reason:flowerforyou: You obviously have some common sense. I don't think diet coke is the best choice, but its not going to make me drop over dead if I have diet Dr. Pepper occasionally.
  • Nom! Bump for later:drinker:
  • Mine are fairly eclectic, I like variety. My favorites for pushing myself or getting through are Move to the Music by American Bang(rock) Move by Flame(christian hip-hop/rap) Stronger by Kelly Clarkson(pop/country) Who Says by Selena Gomez(pop) Perfect by Pink Kick a Little by Little Texas(country) Thrift Shop by…
  • don't think she meant that everybody had to run, just stop making excuses to sit on the couch instead of getting out there and doing something/anything. It is about trying things you never thought you could do and discovering something you love and that motivates you. For me its Zumba and I also am trying to start running,…
  • One of my friends has a Fractured Tibia/Fibula and now that she is 50% weight bearing she is coming to Zumba and sitting on the stage( it is in an auditorium) and just doing the arms and abs and kicking her legs in the air. Her PT is having her ride a stationary bike also to improve range of motion. She takes the Boot off…
  • I just started it this week, I try not to think about how many intervals I have, just start the app and my music and go. I  my playlist so I focus on my tunes and just run/walk when prompted. I view it as 30 mins. period. I do Zumba and other classes for an hour each so C25k is shorter:-)
  • I was spending more, then found a grocery that has significant savings on the fresher items. I got 3lb bags of blood oranges for $0.67 + 10% at register so $0.74 a bag and kiwi for 5/$0.97 + 10%. The special buy on fruit rotates frequently. Over the holidays they had pomegranates for $0.20 each. Meats are pretty cheap…
  • I add spinach to almost any thing. I use it in my smoothies, add it to soups, eat it raw. Only veggie I hate is Lima beans. I love all fruit, it makes my sweet tooth happy:bigsmile:
  • Exactly. I just started trying to transition from a walker and Zumba addict to a runner and strength trainer because I want my body to be able to do everything. 65 lbs gone with diet and exercise, last 30 or so to go:-) No more excuses to never go, maybe occasionally one for why that particular day is out :-p
  • Ooohh, this looks fun and motivating:-) I wanna play!
  • 8 oz Trop50 orange juice 1 scoop vanilla whey protein 1/2 a banana( I slice it and freeze it) ice to make it slushy blend til nice and frothy and slushy tastes just like an Orange Julius, only healthier. If you dont like artificial sweeteners it can be made with regular OJ.
  • I took a Boot Camp Conditioning class this week and I logged it under circuit training as it was old school training:-) We did 3 sets of 60- 90 seconds each with jacks or running between. She called it 100 push up/sit up/crunch day:-) Just now over the soreness, and I took it Thursday am:-)
  • I love Zumba Core for Wii when I can't fit a class in my schedule. I like that you have the option of 20 minute, 45 minute or a full hour. I still think the class is more fun, but I definitely get a good workout for doing it at home.
  • At the gym I go to there are about 4-5 guys who do our Zumba class regularly. One of them comes in before or after his Weights workout and says its the only way he can stand cardio. One of the others is obviously ex-military drill instructor and counts out any reps or timing, he really helps make sure we are all on our…
  • Sunday...try out new video for Weighted Exercise ball. 30 mins( worked til 7am so it has to be short) Monday...Elliptical 45 mins, possibly some weights( have to work 7p-7a) Tuesday..1 hour Zumba Wednesday.. 2 Curves Zumba Circuits, 1 hour Zumba class in evening Thursday...Elliptical 45 mins, weighted ball workout Video(…
  • Wow! The waist really shows your hard work. You look marvelous
  • I was WW for about 18 months, lost 40 lbs but then plateau'd and played around the same 10 lbs, found Zumba and MFP about the same time, left WW to have Zumba money. Still losing, maintained over holidays and expect to see decent loss again starting this week.
  • I  veggies. I like raw spinach on my sandwiches instead of lettuce. Spinach sauteed in a pan with a little olive oil and garlic, then scrambled in eggs with a little feta cheese is one of my favorite after work breakfasts(I work 7p-7a) I agree with Hobbit. Pumpkin smoothies are awesome, never tried it hot though. My…
  • Sorry, but that is not true. Each individual's BMR may be quite different, even at the same height, age, and weight. The calculators for BMR are all set to average, but there are variables at each end. I haven't had mine tested, but I strongly suspect it may be lower than average, which would explain why I have to maintain…
  • So awesome good for you. I have to take a pic of my new size jeans on top of my old Lane Bryant jeans(no Idea what the "real" size is since some companies(Lane Bryant included) changed their sizing. LB Right Fit Blue size 4? Maybe a 20-22? Now in 12's and 14's:bigsmile:
  • Me too. I am an "Open-Book" sort of person. I talk about it to anyone who shows an interest in why I am smaller. My co-workers are all eating healthier and exercising more and since I was once almost the biggest in our dept. I think my lifestyle changes and how happy I was about it made them take note. They know I still…
  • Agree with MariaBabe.. a spacer is a wonderful tool. I am a Respiratory therapist and have mild asthma myself. Even I get a better dose using a spacer. I don't know if you drink coffee or hot tea, but both have some broncho-dilatory effect. I can definitely go longer if I've had a cup of hot tea or coffee, about 20 minutes…
  • SO sorry that you lost your running buddy. My old guys are my babies. I know we will be facing this sooner than later. My heart goes out to you.
  • Try pre-planning and logging for a few days, then measure proper portions and log them before you put the first bite in your mouth. I usually find that I am full knowing I had enough calories. Also bulk up your meals with low-calorie high water veggies like spinach and broccoli. I don't get nearly as hungry when I add more…
  • Check out YouTube's BeFit channel. Tons of workout videos.
  • Almond-coconut milk( unsweetened vanilla) with protein powder and frozen fruit, blend for a yummy smoothie. Pumpkin puree with protein powder and egg whites, sweetened with stevia and flavored with pumpkin pie spice, microwaved in a mug for 1-2 minutes. Egg beaters or real eggs scrambled with lots of spinach and a little…
  • I started Weight Watchers at 250, back in February 2011. I lost around 40 lbs on WW, then plateau'd and played around with the same 5-10 lbs for a few months. I found Zumba in August 2012. I found MFP in September 2012. I quit WW to have the money for Zumba and started using MFP for tracking instead. I have now lost…
