How current is the avatar? I ask because, if it represents 'too toned or muscled' to you, some consultation with a therapist trained in body image issues may be in order.

Its ability to cause you to burn more calories is roughly on par with its diuretic effect: practically nil for anyone who consumes it with any regularity. The good news with this is that you don't need to 'drink a lot of water' in addition to your coffee, as coffee counts toward your hydration needs just fine. Depending on…

In general, low carb diets work by being low calorie diets in disguise, because my foods that are high in carbohydrates are also calorie-dense relative to their overall nutrition profile (pastries and desserts, for example), or are used as vehicles for calorie and fat-dense foods (like a loaded baked potato or buttered…

DINGDING! We have a winner.

Do folks that aren't doing TDEE, but still not eating back exercise calories, put the same amount of gas in the car every week, regardless of how much driving they did the week before?
-
I ask, because most studies I've seen have shown that meal timing makes no difference for the majority of non-elite athletes who aren't competing in relatively long endurance events. Twenty to sixty minutes of calisthenics (I had to spellcheck it too) and yoga doesn't typically hit the definition of 'endurance event,' so…

What is your exercise routine and duration, if meal timing is actually producing an appreciable difference in performance for you?

Your trainer may be an amazing person who's really good at getting you to your goals in the gym, but concepts like 'endomorph' are largely considered outdated at best, 'broscience' at worst. Trainers are not necessarily well-versed in nutrition.

Frosted Flakes are easier to fit into most low calorie diets than Grape Nuts: 100 less calories per serving, before milk. I'm just sayin'. How are you defining 'processed foods' here, relative to breakfast cereal? Which breakfast cereals are not processed?
-
Good luck; that combination of high protein with relatively low fat is going to be extremely tricky to hit, particularly if you're dead set on staying away from shakes, protein bars, or other 'processed' forms of protein.

Ever try. Ever fail. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better. - Samuel Beckett Everyone slips. Your favorite athlete has had a bad performance; your favorite actor has forgotten a line; your biggest inspiration on MFP has had a day where they didn't stay on target. In each case, they dusted themselves off, shrugged,…

So if convicted, the Big Balls he used to attend may change, somewhat.

This is because, in general, bodybuilder physiques are really good for looking nice, but not actually as strong as folks who are muscular but less 'ripped.' The folks you're apparently wanting to emulate aren't good examples of what you're calling 'true strength'. . . or drug-free results, for that matter.

If you don't shy away from your image in the mirror when you wear a bikini, by all means, wear a bikini. My opinion is you look fine, but your opinion's the only one that matters.

A combination of medication and weight caused mine; I lost 15 pounds (more than that by now) and do 40+ minutes of walking, and it's down to a resting rate in the 80s, which I call a victory compared to 115.

Gaining OR losing 2 pounds in a week is a fairly aggressive goal. Is there a particular event you're aiming for?

TIL working as waitstaff is equivalent to prostitution.

I'm not a nutritionist, and don't even play one on TV, but my very first thought was to check your B vitamins, which are broadly linked to energy. Whether a food is 'processed' or not, the caloric, micronutrient, and macronutrient content of your diet will generally be the largest factor in how much energy is derived from…

If your job is legal, pays your bills, and isn't forced upon you, there's no reason on Earth to be ashamed of doing the work. Tell anyone who thinks differently to kindly stuff it.

Which apples are you eating, that you think are not genetically modified by selective pollination by humans?

How is losing weight "slow enough that I need to change my workout priority" being defined here? 1lb a month? A stall? 1 lb a week? I ask because "extreme weight loss" sends up minor warning signals to me about folks set on outpacing things like The Biggest Loser and dropping 3+ lb/week only to consider it 'too slow.'

I'd wager the carbohydrates are within the beans (or grounds) themselves, which aren't typically consumed when sold to be brewed, unless there's a mistake on the packaging. Technically, depending on brewing method and strength, coffee weighs in at between 2 - 5 calories per 8oz cup; US regulations allow foods which have <5…

Ding ding ding! The study set out to prove that folks could not achieve an aggressive weight loss goal on a moderate deficit (regardless of what the study claims to investigate), and proves this hypothesis correct, within a sample size so small that any results could reasonably be considered statistical outliers to the…
