Mr Kellog has a lot to answer for! If you don't want to eat breakfast don't!

Not in this case! Thousands of us are doing the 5:2 way of eating and it is sustainable. Google Michael Mosley. Read his book. Do it properly set MFP to maintain your weight then eat 500 calories on two days a week. It works and it is easy!

This really is not how 5:2 works - 1200/1300 is way too low on an eating day. The whole thing about 5;2 is to eat normally on non fast days and to restrict your calories to 500 on fast days. Done properly it works like a dream.

Eat normally (around 2000 calories for 5 days a week then the other 2 days (that don't have to be consecutive) eat 500 calories for women or 600 calories for men). It worked for me and I've never felt better!

I lost 28 pounds in just over six months using the 5:2 way of eating. Maintaining well now.

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/7953-5-2-fasting This is the most used group but there is another one. Welcome to the brilliant world of 5:2 , the best way of losing weight that works!

Check out the 5:2 diet groups on MFP by searching, there you will find all the help you need on this way of life/eating - it works and it is easy!

Hi Chat, Yes we roast sweet chestnuts on our woodburner - you need to split them first with a nutcracker otherwise they will explode. We bought a natty iron chestnut roaster on amazon, which works well.

Me! Never been able to stick to any diet, then I discover 5:2. Started in early March and reached my goal weight three weeks ago and still losing a bit even though I've only fasted once in the last three weeks. I fasted Mondays and Thursday trying to keep at around 500 calories on those days. It works!

I'm obsessive = morning and before I go to bed! :blushing:

I've reached my goal weight this week and have been really pleased with myself. Then on Thursday, at my Art Group, I was taken aside by the chairman who looked very serious and said to me "Promise me you won't lose any more weight!" This really deflated me as my BMI is just over 24 so I'm not wasting a way! How dare people…

^^^^^ This!!!!!!!

It's not a quick fix but it is sustainable, a pound a week loss is the average weight loss. I only have 27 pounds to lose to get to a healthy BMI, others have had a lot more to lose - see above.
-
Oh and the two days "fast" don't have to be consecutive although some of us on it prefer it that way. Most people I know fast Mondays and Thursdays. Google Michael Mosley - the Fast Diet for more information including the health benefits.

Yes Twelvesticks, same here, I wish I'd found it years ago too! This has been the only diet that I've stuck to and the only diet that has given me great results without too much pain. After every diet I've been on for the last thirty odd years I've put the weight back on plus a little bit more. The gist of the plan is for…

Brilliant Twelvesticks, as others have said you're an inspiration to all of us, especially the 5:2ers amongst us!

I'm 63 and have been on and off diets for over 30 years. 5:2 is the only diet that I've stuck to as it is so easy to do. Two pounds away from my goal and then I will maintain by switching to 6:1. There are health benefits too - Google Michael Mosley - The Fast Diet for more information and look at the 5:2 groups on here…

You especially!

Thank you size 10! For goodness sake what on earth are you all getting so worked up about. I love the USA, I love your beautiful countryside, I love your diversity, I love your wildlife, I love your people. Everyone I met whilst travelling was courteous, kind and nice, not like some of the people that have beaten me up…

Have you actually read my original post? It seems not! I asked a question, that was all.
-
But I'm happy this morning, the 2lb I put on whilst visiting the US has gone this morning as I'm doing the 5:2 diet. I expect now I 'll be criticized for that too!

I tried to ignore this but yes I've travelled far and wide, at least 8 countries in Africa, including Ethiopia, Namibia, Ghana; Asia including China, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand x 2 and Kazakhstan; South America including Argentina and Ecuador; Costa Rica x 2 and all over Europe of course. Haven't reached Australia and New…

I don't drink any alcohol two days a week as I'm on the 5:2 way of eating, the other 5 , I eat and drink normally. I would try to fit wine into your calories as life is not much fun depriving yourself too much.

Hooray! Thank you! I 'm the original poster and I have been dismayed by the venom in some of the replies to my post. But perhaps it has made people think!
