  • I don't follow recipes. I just cook up whole fresh lean proteins and lots of fresh non starchy veggies. Sometimes I throw them in the crockpot with some tomatoes. Sometimes I stir fry them. sometimes I bake them with some no salt seasonings. Sometimes I chop the protein up and put in a large garden salad with some Walden…
  • That's just eat, if you search low-carb recipes, you will come up with fat ladden recipes. I avoid those at all costs. Instead, I just cook whole fresh lean proteins and make veggies to go with them. Tonight's dinner: Roasted Turkey breast and spaghetti squash with light laughing cow cheese melted in it and some choppped…
  • Instead of carbs, eat lean protein. Nibble on leftover chicken. Nibble on tuna salad. Nibble on cucumbers sprinkled with cayenne pepper, make turnip fries (veggies have much lower carbs than processed snacks).
  • Carbs did indeed make me fat. It is the reason why all the other diets I tried my whole life never worked very well. To this day, I stick to less than 100 carbs a day. Mostly from Veggies :)
  • Amen to that. People are so afraid to eat lean protein. I see diaries that are excessively high in carbs but barely any protein????? Lean protein is incredibly healthy and fills you up a lot longer. Nibble on leftover cooked chicken if you have to. Who says it has to be processed snacky foods?
  • Skip the supplements. Just eat 6 times a day, whole fresh foods (no more processed foods). Its a habit that has to be changed. You need to replace the habit of snacking with new healthy habits. It may not happen overnight, but it can and will happen if you are truly committed to living a healthier lifestyle. Make a comfort…
  • Is there a written rule somewhere that says we have to eat carbs at every meal???? For two years now, I make a lean and green meal for dinner every night. This means no starchy carbs. My meals always consist of about 5-7 oz of lean protein and 1-1/2 cups of green veggies or 3 cups of salad. Simple. I don't miss the…
  • Watch the sodium content in your food. I am very super sensitive to sodium. I have been so strict with my sodium content since getting healthy that one slip up, and I balloon up due to excess sodium. Restaurant food is loaded with it. Frozen foods are loaded with it and sometimes even your meats at the market have are…
  • I have been a coach for almost 2 years now. Congrats to you!!!!! Never forget about focusing on your own health while trying to help America get healthy!!!!
  • Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations :) I think in this day a lot of people are assuming that weight loss is either due to an illness (had this conversation with a client of mine who had a patron ask her she must not feel well in order to lose 100 lbs and insisted my client was lying to her), or they assume you have…
  • That and Jimmy Johns are the only fast food options for this family. I always get my "subs" made into a salad with no cheese. At JJ, I order my turkey sandwich as an unwich.
  • Lots of lean proteins and fresh veggies. Not sure what you are specifically referring to. Bkfast, lunch or dinner? Either way, always focus on eating a protein and carb together and make your proteins lean like fish, grilled chicken, ground turkey. Tonight, for my family I made chicken parmesean in the crockpot--very…
  • This lifestyle journey is going to be about creating new habits. You MUST get rid of the food that you are tempted by. At a minimum, tell those who eat it (even though they probably should not??) to hide it. Then, make up a "comfort menu" something you will refer to when the urge to snack hits you. Put it in writing and…
  • I agree with this--walking is freaking awesome! As a health coach, I tell all my clients, its all you need. It cracks me up when I see overweight people say on FB that they need to change, they are tired of the way they feel or look, so they go and spend hundreds of dollars on a gym. Really! what did you do that for? that…
  • Try adding some calories from lean protein :)
  • Ya, Jeff needs a reality check. Its okay to eat out, but he needs to make wiser, healthier choices. Obviously, it is best to surround yourself with only motivating people and supportive people. Not sure where Jeff falls in this???
  • I lost all my weight being in slight ketosis---that is 85-100 carbs a day. I was in fat burning mode, it did nothing but make me full of energy and was never depressed. Although I do not have a depression issue to begin with. But is there any diet out there that improves depression?

  • Dr. Oz recommends Green coffee bean extract or raspberry ketones. I have not tried either one.
  • Are you using oil in the pan? I always sesaon mine lightly, spray a foil lined cookie sheet with Pam, and then spray the tops of them with a little Pam and bake at 350 for about 30 mins.
  • there's just nothing better than pure water :)
  • My suggestion is to skip the word diet and find a plan that you can stick with forever. Diets have a beginning and an end, when you follow a healthy lifestyle routine, it lasts forever. Chances are pretty high that you will regain any weight loss after the 3 days unless you continue to eat the same.
  • I used a program that is neither one of those and LOVE every bit of it.
  • Anything below 1550 calories will aid in weight loss. If you exercise, you can have that many more calories. So if you stuck with a 1200 calorie diet, that would give you a deficit of 350 calories a day or 2450 calories a week deficit.
  • I lost 100 lbs and people still have not said anything----whateva! I personally noticed at 40 lbs. That is when I had to buy new pants. I learned never to rely on other people feelings when it comes to your weight loss and your health. I guess some people just don't care.
  • Low carb with lots of lean protein is the only way that helped my pre diabetic body. I used a program that involved medically formulated prepackaged meals, but I also had to cook one meal on my own. I lost 19 lbs in 2 weeks, 40 lbs in 8 weeks and 105 lbs in 10 months. I have been maintaining for about 18 months now.
  • Have you considered drinking more than 64 oz a day? My clients always see better results when they drink half their weight in ounces. Its extremely healthy. It helps flush the fat out among other awesome benefits.
  • Its okay to eat "a lot" with your diabetes, but you have to make wise, healthy choices, too. In fact, you should be eating 6 times a day. And it would be best to have a protein/carb balanced "meal" with each meal time. You definitely want to watch your carbs as carbs turn to sugar but you don't have to eliminate them. I…
