Thanks, arc918. I read through his website and messaged him through dailymile (where I also log all my runs).

I lost my point in my rambling. I think that it was helpful to not stress about it. I'm sure you'll do great!
-
Fantastic. Good luck to you, then.

A high school friend of mine blogs at onesweetvegan.com, although if you read her bio section you can read that it's a website without exercise.

No, do it! You totally deserve it. Bottoms up!

Go to Settings (very top, next to your username), then to "Diary Settings" where you can custom-select from a boatload of micronutrients.

OK, a bronze then? ;)

I was wearing 42 (men's) jeans, but is it awkward to say I could have had quite a muffin top? Suffice to say I was straining and squeezing myself into those, so it was quite awhile before I was able to downgrade to 40's. I can *almost* fit into my 38's now, and I dream of someday wearing 34's again.

Absolutely. Repeat a day, a week, whatever you need to do. Try to push yourself to move on after no more than 3 times on any day or week, though. Sometimes the psychological barrier of seeing that you need to run for 20 minutes straight can convince you that you just need to stick with week 4 for awhile. You can do…

Sign up and pay for a race somewhere at the end of Week 9 or within a couple weeks after. This will help keep you on track (although you still need to put out the effort to get out there). I started in January and signed up for an event in mid-March so that I was pretty locked in and had to complete each workout in order…

Since you've asked, you really should get to a specialized running store and have them analyze your gait and stride to make sure the shoes you're getting match the needs of your feet and posture. Most good running stores (Fleet Feet is one if you happen to have one nearby) will do this analysis for free.

Hmmm ... I can imagine this is as important as running shoes, although admittedly I have a pair of "back-up" sneakers for my non-running activities. Interested to see the rest of the thread, though.

Congrats! Every victory and improvement is worth noting and celebrating!
-
Awesome job! People don't generally pick me up either way (at 303 or 245), but I can imagine this is pretty exciting. :)
-
Wow wow wow ... nice job! Surgery or not, that takes some real commitment.
-
I don't think you did this right. There's two pictures, but they're of two completely different people - can you post the one where it's you in both shots? ;)
-
Awesome job, man! I'm sure it's not always been easy, but you've already lost an average person! That's fantastic!
-
In. Credible. It's threads like these that help keep me from getting in a rut or a funk. Way to go!
-
Awesome, man. And I love the "Hobbit" reference in the subject title.
-
Amazing. I know this post is a tad old, but I'm just seeing it for the first time and am VERY impressed. You're, like, 1/2 the woman you used to be!
-
Awesome job! You're going to make it!
-
Wow! This is amazing! I mean you couldn't even hold your arm at your side in Jackson Hole. Now look at you!!!
-
Awesome!
-
Very nice! Although it's not terribly expensive to have it resized (should be under $50). If a mall jewelers are charging more than that, take it to a local jeweler.
-
Congrats! If you have a dollar tree or 98-cent store nearby you should go buy one and hang it in your office/cube.

I ended up doing this somewhat inadvertently. I am at the tail end of a 6+ week stint away from home and away from my family while I teach summer school about 350 miles away from home. There's a scale at my aunt and uncle's house where I'm staying, but I don't trust it as I weighed shortly after arriving and it was about…

Oh, another thing ... if you're at or near a weight where you've been before in your journey, it can create a physiological or psychological hurdle that can be tough to overcome. Do not underestimate this effect. It can be tough to move beyond, and can take weeks or even months. But you can do it!

Also try zig-zagging your calories. 1200 is OK, but it's on the borderline of what folks would consider 'starvation.' If nothing else you'll get a proverbial noodle-lashing in here, but only you know what's best on that front. Zig-zagging takes your mean calorie goal and floats a range about 200-300 calories on either side…

You are so right. I don't make a big deal of it IRL, but food addiction is a serious thing, and I know there are some foods that will just open the floodgates. I don't EVER want to assume that I'll be beyond this, either. I have resigned myself to weighing and tracking the rest of my life (the payoff is immense!).

Every type of workout can help promote weight loss and every type of workout can eventually be a stagnation in weight loss. The key is muscle confusion (do I sound like an infomercial yet?) to where you mix up the types and/or intensities of exercises you do. So if you only have the elliptical to use, kick it up a few…
