  • For all of you who say you have your children vaccinated against most things, but not chicken pox, please reconsider, especially for girls! Like rubella/German measles, if a pregnant woman gets chicken pox it can cause birth defects. I was too old to get the chicken pox vaccine as a kid, but never caught it, so my gyno had…
  • I met my boyfriend online, but I had to sort through a bunch of guys who weren't right for me first. Some were creepy, some were losers, some were great guys just not for me. But what I'm going to say applies whether you met the guy online or in real life. 1) If he pressures you for sex before you're ready, he's not right…
  • I'm 5'8 and I was a size 18 around 220-230 pounds.
  • I'm 5'8 and my goal right now is 160. I was around 150 in high school and was pretty bony, though I realize now that I'm older things will probably look different. I'll see how I look and feel when I get down there.
  • My first car was an 86 Pontiac 6000. It stalled every time I turned left, and I often had to turn the car off and re-start it while I was in the middle of a road blocking both lanes of traffic. Also, if you wanted the radio on you had to physically hold the power button down. The engine was also prone to flooding. I called…
  • I'm in the Milwaukee area.
  • I'm fond of "I wish I were a derivative so I could lie tangent to your curves", but I'm a math nerd.
  • I had a guy tell me once that he saw me dancing in a club and I was so beautiful that he had to come in off the street and talk to me (this was in Hong Kong, where a lot of the bars/clubs are open on one side). It didn't work, though, because I had seen him for the past hour talking to the DJ and hitting on other girls.…
  • Haven't noticed that with the men in my area. Other weird things, yes, but not lack of teeth. P.S. Also love your ticker. Very true.
  • I have all my teeth!
  • You cannot think your way out of a chemical imbalance. I suggest you stop spouting dangerous advice. I'd also recommend that you wake up and realize that the world does not revolve around you, and that just because something worked for you does not mean it will work for everyone.
  • These stories are always about obese people, but really, I have had more problems sitting next to men who are of normal weight but with broad shoulders -- shoulders don't squish like fat does. Or with men who are convinced that they are so well-endowed that they have to sit with their knees three feet apart and take up…
  • I eat the chocolate. In small amounts if I'm near my calorie limit (though, really, I don't stress if I go over every once in a while -- I just try to stay under maintenance). Someone upthread mentioned Ghirardelli squares, and those are great. There's a dark chocolate one with sea salt and almonds, and two of those are…

  • It could be that the size is right, but the style isn't. Not every style of bra will work for you. Try a different brand or a different style in the same brand. That might help.

  • I'm on citalopram (Celexa) and I've lost almost 30 pounds. Like other people on this forum, the anti-depressants were what gave me the ability to start a healthy diet and exercising. Without that I wouldn't have the motivation to do anything, let alone exercise. And for all of you saying "Exercising worked for me, so you…
  • Go get professionally fitted at a place that has a VERY LARGE selection of sizes. If you happen to wear a size that a store doesn't carry, a lot of places will try to make you fit into a size they carry, even if it's not your real size. This is particularly important if you have a small underbust measurement, a large…

  • 31. 32 in August.
  • It happens even if you don't show cleavage.
  • There's a history of skin cancer in my family. I'll stay pale, thanks.
  • I went ice skating with a guy last night. Also, if you have any minor league teams around, those games can be a lot of fun and usually aren't very expensive.
  • My Fitbit records steps on carpet just fine.
  • My liver and kidneys have been working pretty well for 31+ years, but that's not what caused the weight loss.
  • It's 3 degrees here in Milwaukee, and I'm running a 5K today. I wear wool socks, a wool hat, and a tight wool cowl that can be pulled up over my face or down as I need. I wear stretchy gloves with wool mittens over them. The mittens will normally wind up in my pockets after a while, but for the first 15 minutes or so…
  • I'm running a 5K tomorrow (my first!) and we get beer and a bottle of champagne when it's over. I plan on enjoying those beers after the race and the champagne that night. I'll log it, but I won't worry if I go over. I'm not going to any parties or anything, just planning on having a quiet evening at home, so I probably…
  • Veggie stir fries are good. If you make it with brown rice that's even heartier and more filling than white rice, and you can also add peanuts or cashews for protein. I also love making tacos or burritos with black beans instead of ground beef. I add taco seasoning to a can of black beans and cook. Sometimes I'll also add…
  • I grew up there but don't live there any more.
  • I sleep worse, because I lost 25 pounds of insulation and now I'm constantly cold.
  • Mine's accurate on a treadmill, but out in the real world, my Force measures significantly greater distance than Map My Run (the website, not the app) does. Don't know which is correct.
