  • Definitely homemade mac and cheese for me. Also, homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream.
  • Day 4 Level 1 for me. Proud that pushed through the workout even though I have a cold.
  • FWIW, I think Level 2 is a bit easier than Level 1. I hate the section when you have to do jumping jacks, jump rope, repeat. I don't have bad knees, but that part is always a struggle for me. At least with Level 2, the cardio sections are a bit easier.
  • I subscribe to Dolvett's updates on Facebook. His update this morning stated: Dolvett Quince its been, tough this season navigating all the hate on this team, to many distraction, not enough focus. Then again, how can you love someone else when haven't even learned to love yourself Speaks volumes, IMO
  • Oh, I completely understand. My food bills have tripled since I switched over to being vegetarian. I just find that I can eat way more if I add in more veggies. What about beans? Cheap, high in fiber and protein.
  • Definitely log it as circuit training if you aren't using a HRM. For level 1, I don't take any breaks and use 5lbs weights and I only burn 205 calories according to my Polar FT7
  • My first round of Shred, I used 3lb weights. I have really wimpy arms. This time around, I'm using 5lbs. Seems to be the right amount for me.
  • Just finished day 2 of level 1. How everyone else is doing well!
  • I'm not a big fan of protein powders, but I do have friends that swear by them... Some days I do eat my exercise calories and some days I don't. I base that decision on how hungry I am. The one comment I have about your diary is that you seem to eat very little vegetables for a vegetarian. Instead of relying on a…
  • Restarting today (currently taking a break from Chalean Extreme until I can get better weights) SW: 145 Waist: 35.5 Hips: 39 Arm: 11 Chest: 35 Thigh: 21 % BF: 29.5
  • Is there a certain type of restaurant that you want to go to? I don't have a ton of experience eating vegan, but I have noticed that I have the most options at asian restaurants. I struggle the most with Italian restaurants. It's easy to avoid meats, but eggs and dairy are hard to avoid especially if they make their own…
  • Take a pain reliever for your headache and keep up the good work!
  • I'm not sure how your kitchen is set up, but my kids sit at the island with me while I'm doing my kitchen prep. My oldest does his homework and I help him as needed and my younger one is either helping me or flipping through picture books. We do a lot of talking while I'm cooking. I try to squeeze in my workout in the…
  • With your Y membership, you should get a certain amount of sessions with a trainer to get you started with circuit training. At my Y, you get 3 free sessions with a training to get you started. To get started with weights, my trainer worked with me for about an hour to get me at the correct start weights (fatigue after 12…
  • I weigh in every morning, but only record my weight if I've held that number for a few days.
  • I have been following a mostly vegan diet (I had cheese today and dark chocolate earlier in the week) since the New Year. I have a feeling I will end up a selective omnivore (free-range, grass fed, organic) on special occasions, but I'm really digging my plant-based diet right now. I feel lighter and more energetic. I…
  • Moving to a plant-based diet is my New Year Resolution too. I have a feeling I will end up being a selective omnivore as my reason for the switch was medical-related, rather than philosophical. Since January 1st, I haven't had any meat, fish, dairy or eggs. I'm amazed how much energy I have compared to when I was eating…
  • I'm on day three of a 28 day detox diet. This week I'm not eating processed food or beverages, added sugar, dairy, gluten, caffeine, or alcohol. I am focusing on eating fruits, vegetables, and plant-based fats (nuts, seeds, and oils). Week 2, I'll add back in beans/legumes and seafood. Week 3, I'll add back in gluten-free…
  • I use my scale to portion out bulk foods into serving sizes. For example, I'll buy a big tub of Goldfish, pretzels or animal crackers (for the kids, I swear!) and then break it down into serving size portions in snack size baggies. It makes packing the kids' lunches a breeze in the morning and prevents me from having more…
  • Just to play devil's advocate, not all people logging fast food are actually eating fast food. I make my own chili but I log it as a Wendy's large chili because I'm too lazy to input my chili recipe into MFP. Same thing when I grab a burger at my local diner. I end up logging at as a Five Guys burger, because it can't be…
  • I do Shred in addition to my regular workouts. I already completed 30 days, so I'm rotating through the levels. Usually I do Shred in the morning and I will end up doing an additional 30-40 minutes of cardio after work.
  • Great work, ladies! Things are a bit crazy at work and at home, so I haven't been around to post my progress. Still working on Shred. No movement on the scale and I haven't measured myself recently. Hopefully I'll get some time this weekend.
  • Honestly, it really depends on the brand and how you are built. I'm 5'3. I currently wear a size 10 in most brands but in this post there are people who are the same height/weight as me, but they are in larger or smaller sizes.
  • Can you pop into your local eyeglass store and have them adjust your glasses? If your glasses are slipping or moving around on your face, then they probably need to be tightened. Most places don't even charge for adjustments.
  • I'm currently doing 30 Day Shred (I'm in the middle of Level 2) and while I like the results, I'm not necessarily in love with DVD. It's tough and Jillian, while effective, doesn't particularly motivate me. She yells a lot, so I find myself muttering and swearing at her during the DVD. The one nice thing about the DVD is…
  • Good luck jknoell! I'm excited to hear the results of the weigh in! Alison...I agree about the thrusts. I do swear at Jiilian during those! She seems to have an obsession with old school calisthenics. LOL! Still working through Level 2 and I certainly haven't hit a point where I feel ready to move up to Level 3. On the…
  • That's soooo true. I started doing Shred in the morning, because I just want to get it over with. Although I'm not missing all the jumping jacks and jump rope from Level 1. :P
  • Michelle...WTG! Kcarreno...Keep it up! Still chugging along on Level 2. How is everyone else doing on Level 2? In terms of progress. I'm down another .5lbs, so a total of one pound lost so far. I also checked my measurements even though I said I would wait. I'm down an inch on my thighs, hips, waist, and chest. No movement…
