I used to use the Coffee mate french vanilla creamer. It is delicious. Then I read the back of the package. Wow - total garbage. If you're stuck on your creamer (which, even with good coffee, I get it, creamer is good), try this: heavy whipping cream, a few drops of Real Vanilla, and a few drops of Stevia vanilla-flavored…

You're in good company, my friend. I know of plenty of foods that taste as good as skinny feels. But its been decades since I've been skinny, and my memory isn't the greatest. You've got awesome goals, and I'm glad you're keeping focused on those goals. One question: do you work out? If so I'd encourage you to cheat at…

Tried heel to toe, toe to heel landing, no bueno. Pretty sure being overweight is the big reason behind it. "I eat because I'm unhappy. I'm unhappy because I eat." ~Fat *kitten*

Cardio is my enemy; I love weight lifting. Being a hefty fella, running is very hard on my knees and I also get terrible shin splints. I've done lots of time on elliptical machines and my feet end up going numb. I've done a lot of walking and ended up at the doc with terrible pain in one foot. Strangely enough, squatting &…

Greg, thanks again for the advice. I only lift 3-5 times a week, only take one scoop of C4 at a time (was using a knockoff Vitacost brand before that), and I always take weekends off. What got me worried was not feeling much of a kick the few times I took it last week and again today. Already been doing the fruit…

Good advice for cycling off of it. Silly for me to never think of that prior to reading your post. Thanks for taking the time to share! Luckily I've forgotten to take it a couple of times last week, and took a week off of lifting from a pulled groin, but I honestly didn't feel much when I took it today. Looks like I'm…

Odds are your heart rate is elevated most (if not all) of that 30 minutes, so I'd count it all. I would just caution you on MFP's "Circuit Training" calculations, as they seem to be awfully generous with calories burned. When I pushed hard during circuit training and use an HRM I burn anywhere from 9-11 kcal/min. MFP…

^ This. Every time. Moderation is the key to everything. If you wish to exercise in moderation, you'll have to drink in moderation. Or cut out calories somewhere else to make up for the larger intake due to beer. Pros vs Cons. Pro = beer is good. Con= it has calories. Totally up to you how you want to balance the scales.…

Two words: Diet & Diet I've been doing Body Beast for months now, but haven't altered my semi-crappy diet. I went from about 275 lbs to 281 lbs, huge gains in my lifts, but definitely haven't lost any weight because my diet wasn't altered. The difference between this and the article posted above is I know full well that it…

P90X is a decent starter's routine, and pretty cheap if you don't need to go too heavy with the dumbbells. Which, at 47.5kg, my guess is that you'd have to start out pretty light (no offense!) They key to getting start with weight lifting is good form. I don't care if you're only using a 45lb Barbell with no weights, or a…

It might be worth checking to see if they have any sort of a children's menu and give that a shot. Unfortunately for higher caloric content items the only real "low calorie" option is just a smaller portion. Stick to water with lemon instead of pop (or beer/margarita as you've mentioned.) Another option might be fajitas…

Props to you for getting back into the swing of things. If you have some time you might be encouraged by googling Louie Simmons. He broke his back, twice, and is still by far & away the strongest man his age. If I remember correctly he had a combined 1800 lb lift (720 squat, 500-some pound bench, 600-some pound deadlift)…

^ Exactly what he said. I also enjoy a good single malt scotch, neat. Right now I'm very slowly working my way through a Glenfiddich 12, coupled with a nice cigar. I only get to do this a few times a year, but boy is it great when I can!

I quit using store-bought creamers awhile ago simply because I wasn't a fan of all of the ingredients. I switched to using heavy whipping cream, vanilla-flavored Stevia drops. a little Stevia powder, and a few drops of real vanilla. Whipped in a Tovolo Easy Prep mixer to boot. Its easy, its sweet, its good 'fat' calories…

Nothing wrong with a kick start from a juicing program. I love juicing but admittedly don't do it all that often. I was never a fan of how much I threw away though. If you do a juice fast for a few days it is wise to be sure to check with your doctor first. But if you do it and drop a few pounds quickly it is an awesome…

Best post ever.

I'd argue that plenty of calories are burned while strength training, but caloric burn usually isn't the goal with anaerobic exercise (as previously mentioned.) I tend to push myself very hard while strength training to the point where it is almost circuit training (Heart Rate rarely falls below 120 and spikes as high as…

I've been doing Body Beast for several weeks now. I can't really see much of a difference, but I know for sure that my strength and endurance have gone up quite a bit. I'm not a huge fan of the programming either; one day dedicated to shoulders during the 'build' seems silly to me. Nonethelss, I figured it is worth giving…

I'm just jumping in to say that the premise of this thread is terrible.

I'm fortunate enough to have a small workout facility located right inside my office building, so I'm able to do quite a few workouts. Unfortunately (for me) the free weights are minimal (dumbbells going up to 50lbs), but I make due. I tend to do Insanity or Body Beast workouts which, after a shower, range anywhere from…

In college my brother and I also had a rescue dog (beautiful AmStaff) that absolutely loved people, but she was aggressive towards other dogs. When we took her to public parks or places with other dogs we put a muzzle on her. She hated it, and so did we, but we tried our best to be responsible dog owners. We would just…

This is where a heart rate monitor would come in quite handy. I've used one for my first few months of various training, and now I know a pretty darn good estimate of where I am for caloric burn for my workouts. Circuit training for me is usually about 10-11 kcal/min. Insanity is closer to 14-15 kcal/min. Even walking 4mph…

And here I clicked on this thread because I thought it read "Steak counts." I was thinking: yes, yes it does. There is a way to get your streak reset, but I can't remember how. Hopefully someone jumps on this thread to actually help :-)

If you get judged for bringing your list to the gym and/or writing down your exercises, I can assure you that the one judging has the problem. You're being smart about it by having it written down and having it with you while you're exercising. If you're like me it is pretty easy to get confused when you lift hard, so…

A goal of 25 pounds basically means a caloric deficit of 87500 calories. Your current stats show you have a Basal Metabolic rate of roughly 1619 k/cal from the old Harris-Benedict model, or 1723 k/cal from the updated Roza-Shizgal model. Lets round it to 1700, so your current 1200 k/cal model will allow you to lose roughly…

Virtually any 'app' that you download, install, and then proceed to use on your smart phone has just about complete control over your phone. Read the fine print; it is sickening.
