you need a new doc.. The deduction that at your age and weight = 1000 cal a day is horrible. get a new doc.

I try to post every day. There are times when I miss. Now, I do allow myself a 'high calorie' meal on Sat night but I know that if I didn't post I would easily lose track and really overdo it. I hope you find the strategy that works best for you.

I live near one of the past contestants. He shared with me that toward the end of the show they were working out for hours on end and eating 800 or so calories. I suspect this is why so many of them re-gain their weight post show.

geez, and welcome to the OP. I love MFP it has helped me make better choices and to be fully aware of what I'm doing.

the numbers provided are recommended. You may not want to go too high on the carbs. If you are working out it is ok to go higher on the protein as it helps with muscle repair/growth. as for fiber - I always shoot for 25 - 35 grams regardless of what MFP recommends. Good luck and I hope this is helpful.

I've been following this entire thread. It saddens me that people can't simply take the responses for what they are - friendly suggestions - granted they were very knowledgeable responses but still it was a gesture of "hey, I've been there and this is what I've learned" type of help. We are all adults here (or should be)…

thanks for sharing your story. You look great!!

you might want to see a doc just to rule out anything serious but spending some time strengthening your quads will help with the knee pain. Your quads help keep your knee 'on track' sort of so if they are weak you can develop knee pain. Good luck to you!

do you have access to a pool?

check out Tosca Reno for some clean eating plans/recipes. Also, Oxygen mag uses the clean eating premise in all their recipes. Good stuff.

enjoy your vacation first and foremost!!!! Enjoy the culture, enjoy the shows, enjoy the beach. Try to get a workout in every day - walking up and down the beach is awesome!! Enjoy the foods that are available but take small portions and relax. Have a wonderful time!

hi, good for you for reaching out for friends. this process is so much 'easier' with support!!!! Good luck on reaching your goal.

I wouldn't go up that high - maybe add 200 - 300 calories a day and see how it goes.
-
I would add a bit of calories and see if you get any results. Most likely not the high end as that would be to maintain but more than 1200 typically. I tend to stay between 1200 - 1500 depending on my day and I've been losing pretty regularly over the last two months.
-
welcome. I am sure you will find some great supportive friends here. We are all on a journey to health, however health is defined for each of us.

my fastest timed race was 29:15. I've run a 5K distance anywhere from 28 to 33 minutes depending on the road I'm on and how I'm feeling that day.

increasing your fiber quickly can do this. Instead of Not eating broccoli can you slowly increase the amount you eat. Was the brocoli/califlower all you were having for lunch? if so, maybe half that and see how your belly reacts and then go on from there? Good luck (from a fellow belly reactive MFPer)

hey Shelley, yes that is me running in the pic. I started running about a year after I quit smoking. I love it. You never know, that 20 minute jog (although I call any movement faster than a walk a run  may turn into a running some day!!

here is what I do. I log my cardio (running/circuit training) and then on days when I find I have spent hours doing a major cleaing - moving furniture, washing floors, etc I log that too. I try to under count my hours though so for example, if i do a major 6 hour cleaning I will most likely log 4 hours worth. For me this…

Hi and welcome. FIRST, CONGRATS ON QUITTING SMOKING. I quit 12 yrs ago. Best thing I ever did for myself! I agree with Loreleiwalks. I would pick a time/day and use that as your weigh in. doesn't really matter if it is morning or night because if you are consistent with the time and following your program the weight loss…

welcome. You will find lots of great tips and ideas on the forums. I like to spend some time just reading. The support is great too. good luck to you

I'll be looking for the link. I ended up just about 6 pounds from my Christmas goal so 6 weeks is perfect!!!!
-
didn't quite make my goal but I did lose enough that I continue to feel modivated and focused. Valentine's Day - bring it on.
-
welcome. I would use MFP and log everything and you may not need WW. I love that you are looking at doing different things. I run, bike, circuit train and try to fit in some strength training whenever I can. Mixing it up keeps it fun!!!
-
great work. You can see the difference easily!
-
I hope you don't mind but I took a look at your diary. The days that your goal calories were higher were days you worked out. MFP incorporates the calories you burn while working out into your daily calories. I don't know if 1200 calories is sufficiient for you or not - if you are hungry, light headed, tired then it is…

hey all ~ I haven't posted in quite some time. I went a bit haywire but am now back on track. I entered my weight in the excell sheet and am happy to say I'm down 5 pounds. Hope all are on task, doing well and working it !!!!!!
-
great work. I really like that you took some time to list the things that you have learned and now do differently. Thanks!
-
looks great. Thank you for being a Vet and doing what you do.

everyone has a different body structure so the numbers are parimeters only.
