  • The hardest thing to do it stay with the program no matter what. People who "give up" have zero chance pf success. If you accept the fact that you may lose a quarter pound a week, and that DOES add up over the weeks, you'll be in it for success. If you want 2 or 3 pounds off a week, you'll either give up very fast or give…
  • As a suggestion, I would say give up the beers completely for 30 days and see what happens. Most people don't want to hear this but the nutrition is much more important then the beers and 2 or 3 beers is like eating an additional meal. At you age the belly fat should go away..unless there is a genetic predisposition to…
  • Estimating with anything other than veggies never produces the results we want..I used to guesstimate my calories, kept a "log" in my head...ha! People remember what they WANT to remember and when that granola bar is calling me at 4 pm I forget all about the hummus and carrots I had at 1pm.
  • I found this to be true when I tried a raw vegan diet for a while. I actually gained weight because I was not tracking calories and was consuming a lot of nuts, nut butter, dates and avocados.[/quote] Me too ...I gained A LOT of weight very quickly on a raw diet. I started out wanting to lose 10 pounds and within 6 weeks I…
  • A calorie IS a calorie...its a measure of heat..and no matter what "type" of calorie it is ( fat, carbs, protein ) it all counts the same once you consume it. If you doubt that, try eating "good fats" such as raw nuts, avocados, olive oil, etc and not measuring and counting and watch the weight pile on. I would be THRILLED…
  • Add me anyone in this thread...I don't chat all that much but I do check in everyday and I'm happy to share what I am doing, new recipes etc. Have a great day all :)
  • CM- Hope it works for you too. The cravings are a HUGE deal..I believe most of it is emotional..I think it is for me, and believe it or not, even with a packed schedule, boredom. I'm on day 4 of Shakeology, and have seen 3 pounds evaporate on the scale.. (I was UP 5 pounds from the last weigh in before I started which was…
  • Use almond milk..makes a much taster smoothie
  • Sun Warrior, Vega, and you can add a small amount of kidney beans, chick peas both of which have protein in them to your smoothie to give it a creamy texture without adding a lot of sugar like adding bananas soes.
  • I have to say that after YEARS of dieting and losing the SAME 10 pounds 10 times, I cannot see putting even more energy into losing weight that does not seem to want to stay off my body. I am a bit older than some of the people posting here (mid 50's) but I'm very active (personal trainer, fitness teacher), I work out 5…
  • The obsession with carbs is out of control. No one gets or stays fat eating produce...unless its so excessive that its well over reasonable calorie limits. I was vegetarian (for 25 years) through two pregnancies with NO problems and have been vegan for almost 10 years. The ONLY reason I have a few pounds to lose is a sugar…
  • It can be done!!!
  • I make over night oats for breakfast (usually 4 times a week) and add protein powder, flax and chia- also berries. I keep the amounts small so the calories total under 400. Sometimes I have a sweet potato with avocado (mashed) or spread avocado on toast, or make a green smoothie. I try to break it up and try not to have a…
  • I try to keep almonds around. If I know I am going to be out through lunch I will bring extra water, a few almonds and maybe an apple. I avoid the bars at all costs because I find in the end- I never lose weight when I eat them regularly. They don't satisfy me like a meal and most have just as many calories as a meal. Plus…
  • I've been vegan for almost 10 years, vegetarian prior for over 25 years..Its not difficult at all if you are doing it for ethical reasons (for the benefit of animals) as opposed to health reasons (to improve your health which is a great "by product" for me. Once you fully decide that you do not wish to consume anything…
  • Walk with the baby! I lost most of my baby weight (the second time) by taking the baby for long walks in the stroller after she had been fed and was ready to nap- she would fall asleep and I would walk for an hour. You can also do things like push ups and crunches throughout the day- take 5 minutes to hit the floor and do…
  • what's P90X? (You look great btw)
  • try zero water. Great flavors, no cals, great for you
  • chocolate, CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE. Kills me...I'd be 25 pounds lighter if it weren't for chocolate. And I dont eat half of what I'd like to eat.
  • I'm late..but I'll go for 8?
  • Definitely no offense taken..the eating is stress and fatigue related. Its a bad reaction to stress and it creates MORE stress. I often think WHILE I'm eating that I should stop..that I should not continue..but I say "screw it" and munch on. And its almost all "healthy" food...lots of vegetables, brown rice, nuts,…
  • Not feeling angry and disgusted with myself. I lost 15 pounds 3 years ago...took me 6 months, and then I gained it back in 6 weeks! Now its just impossible for me to cut back enough to lose the weight. I need to be on a 1200 calorie a day eating plan and I end each day at 2000 - 2200 calories...combined with the exercise I…
  • Makes no difference as long as you dont take in an excess of what you burn daily...in other words even if you get no real exercise as long as you maintain a calorie deficit, you will not gain weight. Its a simple formula, calories in, calories out. The more active you are the faster you will lose weight provided you keep…

  • If you want a slightly thicker mix, use milk, otherwise juice (which will also make it sweeter) . If you have a blender, you can add frozen berries or a banana and make a shake/smoothie out of it. Its trial and error..you have to try different things and find out what works best for you. Good luck and enjoy :)
  • Sometimes that kind of hunger is due to either a food plan that is not nutritionally sound..or a constant state of either dehydration and or fatigue...I could EASILY eat 3000 calories a day without feeling stuffed..I have a huge appetite..just have to get used to feeling hungry and not eating as a reaction to that feeling…
