Was gestational diabetic with my daughter in 1994 and cut sugars from my diet while pregnant. Since, I forgot to watch what I ate, and in April this year, was told I was Type II Diabetic from a high blood sugar count. It hit me like a ton of bricks! They put me on Metformin and I was off!! Cut out all processed carbs, and…

White carbs, ie: flour tortillas, white sandwich bread, pasta. Also cookies, candy, soda pop, potato chips and french fries. I do indulge on special occassions, but avoid them on a daily basis.

I could use some of these motivational thoughts!! Thanks! Oh, and I am absolutely no help with your question. Like you, I need help also.

My thoughts, and what I try to do... Corn tortilla, not flour..... beans, not rice ..... salsa, not sour cream.... chicken over beef or pork..... lots of water (sodium will get you)..... and nothing deep fried .... watch proportions as well, eat slowly, and when you are full, put the fork down. I absolutely love mexican…

Excellent topic! I too have joined in the small plate/small portions group, and am so surprised at how full I really get by eating that salad size plate of food, and don't need any more. You can always go back for a few more veggies if you still feel hungry, but if we all pay attention to it, we really never need to. And,…

Never tried 'suddenly salad' - guess I never will. LOL!!

You have a beautiful face either way. You look great!!

I noticed it right away, but that was soley due to sodium reduction. For the most part, I have only changed my habits to cut carbs and sugars, watch my fat and sodium, get more protein. My weight loss varies depending on exercise. It's a slow process, and it will take time to adjust to what works for you. (I'd give it a…

I was just about to say the same thing. You can also add fiber to help keep you full. And, with fiber, drink tons of water.

I too use aerobic dancing. Seems pretty close to my HRM.

My goal is to get my blood sugar count LOW, and reverse the diabetes. I'm there, I just need to keep it up - FOR LIFE!!

Agree with the weights. When I started this in April, my back was bad, and my knees killed me when I tried to exercise. I basically danced, and Zumba (started out very slowly). I added 5 lbs. weights basically lifting over head, to the side, etc. I'm now down 30 lbs., and can dance while holding the weights, and Zumba…

I can so totally relate!!! This is my 4th time up for weight loss, with the exception - this time I'm making it a lifestyle change. Which is great!! I feel soo much better, have more confidence, clothes actually look good, but I still feel FAT! I'm hoping that after living like this for a while, the FAT personna will…

I was wondering what would happen if you let up on your exercising! No need to wonder anymore!! YIPES!!!! Didn't realize it would happen that quickly. No doubt 7 lbs. was water retention. Guess we all learned a lesson on that one. It's like in the past when I've 'dieted', and then the diet's over and I can go back to…

I'd like to see that!!! LOL

I was thinking of avacados - they seemed to have helped me in the tummy area.

I was told to watch the V8 - too much sodium. Just a side note.

Raisins are good for potassium also. Protein I like lean turkey meat, especially in a salad.
