Starting week 5. My race is October 24th (on my daughter's bday!!)....she's running too :) I will run 2 more next year, God willing. I am also walking and swimming on my days off. Sure am feeling strong right now!

Hi everyone, hope I can join this group. I will be running my second 5k race this october 23rd. I am currently at week 4.1 A little out of shape since I didn't run at all this summer. I was busy entertaining family and friends from overseas. I am back and want all the motivation I can get!!!! Thanks all!

I agree with most posters, 1200 calories for a woman are bare minimum. That is just almost close to starvation mode. Your body needs enough calories to survive. If you add exercise calories...then it becomes close to 1450 etc. Thats a more reasonable count. And keeps you full and energetic. Good luck!

My post couch to 5K run was easy and hard. I ran outside for 30 mins and then walked for 10 minutes to complete 3.6 miles. Yikes!! I celebrated my accomplishements by buying some new workout clothes. I just finished the couch to 5K program. Please take it easy. Run one day and then take a break from running. You can cross train or walk on the days off but do not run! Your muscles need to relax. You can also do strength training on the days off. I usually either go swimming or take a nice walk. Take it slow!
