Thanks everybody for all the great advice I can always count on my MFP buds! Went out and got a foam roller, working on hip/leg strength, and I'm looking for a good massage therapist.. Sadly I have also cut way back on my running, looking forward to better days. Thanks again all!!!

Congratulations! Enjoy the journey to the finish line. I just completed my first marathon and it was one of my greatest accomplishments. So, if I can do it , a 47 year old, former smoker, with only 2 years of running experience, anyone can. I look forward to hearing how you do!

Thanks everybody for all the great advice. I used parts of alot of it . Compression socks for the 4 hour drive home ice baths and today being my day 5 post race I need to get out on my bike for a ride. And by the way I finished my marathon. and I am planning to correct most of my mistakes on my NEXT one. Thanks again

I too eat lots of talapia. It is a very mild farmed fish, it is a great fish for those who dont like fish.. That being said I like to use Old Bay and grilling is my favorite.

Nothing within 2-3 hours of my long runs. But I NEED my coffee (black) before, if I am running early.

Hi everybody, I'm Keith, I am 47 year old firefighter. I quit smoking a little over a year and a half ago and put on a lot of weight. I started running a little over a year ago to lose the weight and I love it (and I lost 50lbs). So far I have run; 2-halfs 6-5K 4-10K and today I finished my first Duathalon. I plan on…

In one year I quit smoking and lost 50 pounds. I also ran my first 5k in a little over a year and a half I ran my first 10k and half-marathon at the age of 47. Next stop marathon! I started by walking the dog around the block. So, YES you can do it!! Just start a plan and stick with it. Enjoy your first half-marathon!
