  • Thanks so much! I'll take a look at that.
  • lolll. you're awesome.
  • Thanks. ;) I'll wait it out, then, but thank you for your contribution! I get very confused, haha.
  • Where to take measurements on your body? You can measure wherever you want, but I think most females measure: bust (widest part of the breast area) waist (where your midsection naturally tapers - this can be as high as below the ribcage or as low as right above the hips, depending on your body) hips (i usually measure the…
  • Exactly. Sorry if I wasn't clear - I don't want to give the impression that I think losing 10 pounds in 2 weeks isn't the worst weight loss goal I've ever heard.
  • I was on SSRI medication for several years. The primary reason I stopped taking it was because it made me completely apathetic. About school, about myself, sometimes about anything. I wasn't a robot, it just really removed any drive I had. I switched to a medication that doesn't do that. It was a switch from an SSRI…
  • To lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks, you have to burn 35,000 calories in 14 days, and if your body naturally burns 1,700 calories a day (just an example) just by existing, you would still have 11,200 calories to burn over 14 days. So, if you can (1) not eat anything and (2) burn 800 calories a day in addition to what your body…
  • If you're talking about an anti-depressant/SSRI, there are a million different ones that are supposed to be beneficial. If you're talking about SNRIs (for depression, not so great for anxiety) there are are several that actually decrease your hunger. I would definitely talk to your doctor about trying a different…
  • I'm between 5'9.25" and 5'10" with a medium-to-large frame, and my goal is somewhere between 150 and 160 lbs. Edit: My goal is to be a size medium (so either an 8 or a 10, depending on the brand). I'm top heavy so that might not work out for my shirt size.

  • That had to be the most boring year ever.
  • I do the low carbohydrate thing. (Not no carb, just no grains, lots of veggies, moderate protein, high fat, periodic fruit.) I tried counting calories and eating whatever I wanted as long as I was at a deficit, but my body doesn't respond well to a higher-carbohydrate diet, and it never has. It's hard to stay on the…
  • Yup! There's nothing wrong with eating cholesterol, so long as you exercise and you're not genetically predisposed to high cholesterol. Eating low carb/high fat/eggs every day increased my HDL and decreased my LDL.
  • What a transformation. Great job!
  • I just checked out your blog - you are SO awesome!!!! Congratulations on the NSV, you deserve it for all your hard work.

  • I think you're a banana. Apple hips are virtually nonexistent - it looks like you've got some hip action going on. You also don't look broad. Your body is cute, btw.
  • I'm 5'10" and while I would LOVE a 27.5" waist, I don't think that'll ever happen (even at my skinniest it was probably 29"). My inch goals are 38-40", 30", 38" (B, W, H respectively). Right now they're.... much larger than that, LOL.
  • I have a question for you Becca (and other apple mamas). How did getting pregnant/giving birth affect your hips? Did it make them more proportionate to your chest measurement? I'm banking on bigger hips when I have babies but maybe I shouldn't.
  • I have this problem too. I think we just have to lower our body fat percentage... it'll probably be the last place we lose fat. :(

  • I do it monthly. I don't really see the point in doing it any more than that...
  • flax seed/meal is a really good addition to anything and it's full of fiber. and it has protein (see http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrition_articles.asp?id=451).
  • Have you been doing anything else besides the New Rules? Also, have you lost any weight in the past 16 days? Great results!
  • I just did a little research and you've sold me on it, haha. From what I can tell, the Armband Advantage is all that would be necessary for me *personally* - I don't need immediate updates on my cell phone or anything. It looks like the Link is good if you want to use your phone/the armband with Bluetooth and have the…
  • Breaking things down into mini-goals definitely helps me stay on track. My immediate goal is to lose 30 lbs but I look at them as little 6 pound (one month) increments. And honestly, you won't even know what your actual goal is until you get there, so I wouldn't sweat it.
  • Booze of any variety stalls me any time I drink it, and I still have 40 pounds left to lose. I think different bodies work differently - if you don't notice anything detrimental as a result of drinking alcohol, then by all means, drink on!
  • This is random, but a couple of different sources that I've read indicate that a lower-carb and high-fat/high-protein diet is ideal for apple shapes. I don't know if the sources I read could even substantiate this scientifically or if it was just some kind of random study, but... I know that when I was at my thinnest, I…
  • Not that I have mastered this at all, but I find that I can usually get away with wearing any kind of shirt (assuming it fits my boobs, heh) if I wear something on the bottom that gives me the appearance of having hips. Like a knee-length flowy skirt or something.

  • Hi ladies. I'm 25, 5'9.25"-5'10" and 200-203 lbs. This time last year I was about 184 pounds. I started a full-time graduate program last year and stopped my only form of regular exercise (waiting tables) which I credit with helping the weight gain. So, someone already mentioned it, but though I've had skinny periods in my…
  • quietasariot, i think as you've lost weight you've gone from an apple to more of an hourglass/maybe a pear. you have a great little waist going on!
  • Whole bottles of wine, every time I open wine, disappear. Which is why I'm off the wine now.
  • As someone already mentioned, I think, if you're eating 1,200 calories a day and you're hungry all the time, you should probably not be only eating 1,200 calories a day.
