  • Couch to 5K is awesom, as a lot of people on here agree with! I actually do not enjoy running. I'm doing it to get fit and realize it's something I need to do. I'm doing the couch to 5k and have seen great results. I even had to repeat a few weeks, but just kept going. I think if you are not a "runner" it's important to…
  • I sit on the floor with my knees bent and my heels right under my butt. If you don't feel a stretch you can gently pull your knee upward to get a deep ankel and shin stretch.
  • Part of me wants to buy them too  But I I agree with rcatr, add some lunges and you'll see results. I can't think of spending over $100 for shoes that look that goofy either    I have heard other people say they helped them, but you have to wear them ALOT to see results. When you watch the…
  • Deckerp, great info  I just researched this my self a few days ago. If you google shin splints there's alot of info out there. I personally have somewhat flat feet, which is changing now that I've lost weight and do exercises that strengthen my feet and legs. I didn't actually get shin splints but I reconised the…
  • Yeah, it does depend on your height and age. I had mine done a few months ago and was at 26%. That is a high average for me, but still in a healthy range. Mainly athleats are at 17% and under. The body needs at least 13% body fat to maintain joints and what not. As for calculating it, there are a few ways if you google it.…
  • If I can't find that restaurant I just try to find something close for the nutrition facts. I'm always sceptical when I see food on a menu. Such as steamed broccoli, almost everytime I get it there's some type of oil or butter on it I can taste or see. I'd think being in a city like that though you'd be able to find some…
  • I do both. Now when I first started out just walking would send my heart rate through the roof  I try to change it up alot. For the next few weeks I'm running/fast walking for my high intensity, then doing the stair stepper and walking the dog for my low. High workouts my hr gets to about 165, low I keep it arond…
  • Reading all this is making me want tacos now
  • For the shell you can find some low calorie/fat/carb ones. I bought some made by Ole, they are very high in fiber, 110 calories, 2g fat and only 5 total carbs! They taste like flower tortillas too!!! If you get corn you'd have to fry them in oil. As for meat I'd definatly go with chicken. Shreaded chicken or ground. I…
  • I also started out eatting alot of them. Yeah, they are quite high in sodium, but if that's pretty much all you're eatting you shouldn't really go over on salt. A big problem I see with this is when you do get to your goal weight how are you going to maintain it? If you really want to try to break away from pre packaged…
  • I'm kinda in the same boat. I've been doing this 20 min ab workout that comes on free on my cable. Here are a few of the exercises... (going off memory) Plank, hold your self in a push up position. With your right hand touch out to the right side, in front, left side, and under you by your leggs. Kinda like going around a…
  • Hi everyone  I've come to a point where I realize I really need to push myself to lose the last 8 pounds I have. I'm not a runner but I figure what better way to challenge my self than to do something I haven't done since high school! I've just started running at the gym on a treadmill. I'm currently walking 4 mins…
  • Yey :flowerforyou: Thanks saves me on research  I need to change mine up.

  • I agree probably water weight. Lots of "crappy" food has high sodium. I had a crazy weekend weeks ago and gained 6-7 pounds. It went down 2 days later.
  • In general I wait an hour. If I eat something big I'll wait two. There's nothing worse than burping up breakfast in the middle of a workout  It tasted good the first time, I don't want seconds.
  • Up untill last month I drank alot! I love wine also but I can also put hard alcohol away like you wouldn't believe  I'm not sure about all this calorie counting, or how the body burns alcohol, or if it hinders your weight loss. All I can tell you is what has worked for me this month. When I stopped drinking on a…

  • Yey  It's been a long time since I've done these! Going to have to give it a try again on my next weight session.
  • HI :flowerforyou: Oh yes the drastic change from a "normal" busy city to emptyness... I am an army wife as well. We moved from Austin TX to KENTUCKY! Needless to say I hate it here and sometimes people don't understand what I mean when I say I miss living in a "real" city  Anyway, I've lived here for just…
  • Yeah I agree. And that day I did 800 calories, it was multiple hours and sessions! I only did it once because that night I thought I was going to die!!!!
  • I burned 800 calories once, it was really hard todo! I spent an hour doing cardio machines then lifted weights then went back to the gym later that day!
  • When I was about 19 I took the pill. I stopped taking it because it made me gain weight! I was only 110 pounds at the time and I noticed it fast! Once I stopped I lost the weight I gained. It wasn't massive weight gain or anything, but enough to make me and my friends notice. I'm kinda weird ever since then, I don't like…
  • I was eatting very high protien to gain muscle mass and ran into this problem! Meat, that's the only thing I could really snack on. I did roast my own soy beans and they kinda taste like nuts. Just pick some up in the frozen food section. I used sea salt and olive oil. I think they were 9 carbs, but very very high…
  • Oh yes!! I need to lose 13 pounds, I've lost 4 in 3 months!!! When it gets down to those last pounds it gets hard hard hard!!! Keep with it, feel great about what you've done already and keep going :flowerforyou:
  • In the long run... weights! Lifting weights to build upper and lower body mass. But if you're happy with how you look right now and want a certain shape for the wedding (june is pretty soon) I'd get some type of corset. Any "goth" type store would probably have one or oder online. But get a great one to pull this look off.…

  • Now reading the post again, I'm not sure what you are asking? I generally eat a huge breakfast... 300-600 calories and just try to have one serving of what I'm eatting. Example. I'm having rice and fish for dinner. I'm eatting 4 oz of talapia and 3/4 cup cooked rice as dinner. (one serving of each item)
  • I had the same questions when I first started. A member on this site shared this with me and I found it very very helpful... The look of normal portion sizes: 1 oz. meat: size of a matchbox 3 oz. meat: size of a deck of cards or bar of soap—the recommended portion for a meal 8 oz. meat: size of a thin paperback book 3 oz.…
  • 5 days a week. Each time is an hour of weights and 30 mins cardio. I've just added walking the dog 4 miles a few times a week. I did it all the time during the summer and now the weather is looking better I can do it again  On my 2 "rest" days I do yoga or 20 min ab workout. My goal this week is to walk the dog 4…
  • You've done such a great job!!! I struggle with this on a daily basis!!! Talking to someone may help, but if you're anything like me that's just not going to get done  Anyway, one thing I'm telling myself through out the day is, "I'm not fat, I'm not over weight and I haven't been in over 2 years." I have to remind…
