I'm having a difficult time deciding.
I am having a difficult time deciding what to do. I thought I really wanted a gym membership, but the one gym that has a ton of stuff has bad hours, and the other one (open 24/7/365) costs too much. I have lost 85 pounds to date just doing videos (mostly Biggest Loser, Turbo Jam, and Gilad with various others thrown in),…

Video system?
I really wanted a gym membership, but I just don't think that'll work due to my schedule and the cost of the more available gym. I am also not sure about getting a piece of equipment since I only have about $500 to spend on something fitness related. So, what would you suggest I buy? Some video weight loss/fitness system?…

Gym Membership OR Treadmill?
I need help deciding on what to get with the extra money we'll have in January, a gym membership or a treadmill. Here are the pros and cons... gym membership: pros--has all sorts of equipment, pool, courts, classes cons--the hours...they're open from 5:30am-8:30pm M-F and 8am-3pm Saturday. I can't go in the morning because…

90% diet, 10% exercise rule?
Do you tend to go by this? What's the research behind it? The thing is that I've been sick on and off for a few weeks now, and DH has pneumonia. So, between those two things, I haven't had much exercising going on (like I usually like to do). Would it be okay to just watch my food a little more closely until I can exercise…

Why I know I'm not going back...
I was just thinking about this. I will NEVER gain back all the weight I have lost because... 1. I love the amount of energy I have now. I have a hard time sitting still unless I'm really sick. I even started working out too soon after my last c-section because I was so ready to get back to it. I love just dancing around…

I ran my first 5K today!
I started my running program (just myself, nothing official) in June of this year. I started out with a few minutes of jogging mixed in with walking. Well, today, I ran my first 5K! I did it in 30:20, and I placed 11th out of 29. I got second in my age group. Just had to share!

C-section belly
I had three c-sections in four years time. I have been losing weight all over the place, but I can't seem to get rid of my lower belly (right above my scar). It feels pretty hard to the touch. Could this be scar tissue? Any tips on how to make it smaller? I think I could wear lots of smaller clothes if it weren't so big.

Question for those who've lost a lot of weight and are at go
I have lost about 80 pounds so far. My average loss per month was 5 pounds/month. I have about 30 or so more pounds to lose, and they're VERY slow coming off (the last several weeks). Is this normal? I know I heard the last 10 pounds were hard to lose, but could it be the last 30 pounds for me are hard to lose? What was…

10 minute?
Is 10 minutes an okay time for a mile running? I just started my running journey (started out with some walking too) in June, and today my pace was 10min/mile. Okay time? I have a 5K next weekend, and I'd like to be at about 31 minutes. My run today was 3.2 miles in 32 minutes.

Runners--Do you listen to music while you run?
Do you listen to music while you run? Do you run on a treadmill or outside? Does it affect your run (better or worse)? I ran last night outside without music, and I think I actually ran better. I even shaved some time off.

As you get smaller, do you burn fewer calories during exerci
I may have asked this before, so I apologize if I have. I just completed a Turbo Jam dvd that I used to burn 430-450 calories doing before. Today, I only burned 400 calories, and I was definitely energetic while doing it. Is this normal?

drinking water while running?
Do you usually bring water along on your runs? How long are your runs? I never have brought water along, and I was wondering if maybe I should to keep the energy going. I normally run 3 miles at a time. If I do bring water, how do I bring it/what do I bring it in?

75 pounds down, only 35 or so left
I'm down 75 pounds so far (since I started before my last two kids in 2005). I feel so energetic, and I know I'm going to make my goal. I've picked up running the last few months, and I'm making pretty good strides with that too. Anyway, I just wanted to share my before and current picture. Thanks for looking! 245 pounds…

Help! Shin splints but need to run tonight.
I haven't had shin splints at all since I got my new shoes, but I also hadn't run two days in a row before this weekend. Well, I need to run again tonight. Any easy stretches I can do to relieve the pain before tonight?

Need help improving running speed/time
I am pretty certain I will be running my first 5K on November 21. While I can run that distance, I am not very fast at all. I timed myself today, and running 3.2 miles took me 37:50. I would really like to get down to no more than 31 minutes by the race. What's the best way to do this? Also, any tips for cold weather…

What to do with apples?
We picked about 8 pounds of apples today at the orchard and already had about 3 pounds at home. What can I do with them all? (I don't have a ton of time to do much with them until next weekend if they'll keep that long. Refrigerate them???)

running and losing weight
If you ran to lose weight, can you please answer some questions for me? I need some motivation right now, as I've plateaued. Did you just run? How long, and/or how many miles? How many days/week? What was your average monthly weight loss? Anything else you would like to share?

weather and running
I live in Indiana (northern), and we tend to get a variable amount of snow each winter. I currently only run outside due to not having a treadmill and not having a gym membership. I also run after work on weekdays, which is no earlier than 5pm. Well, around here in the winter, it gets dark by then. Any suggestions on what…

Walking AND jogging burning more calories than just jogging?
I have been working my way up to full jogging. Last Saturday (the last time I went out, but not my last time exercising), I did 31/40 minutes jogging, but it wasn't straight up jogging. I had walking intervals in the middle of jogging. Today I jogged for 35 straight minutes with 1 minute walking warm up to start and 4…

Do people ever say this to you?
I've lost over 70 pounds, and I just got into the "overweight" BMI instead of the "obese" one. I get lots of compliments, but a lot of the people act like I don't need to lose anymore weight. I'm 5'4" and 174 pounds. That's still not healthy. I don't broadcast my weight to them, but I do mention that I have some more left…

Anyone run outside after work?
Do you find that you are motivated to run after work just fine? Does the weather affect your workout? When do you do dinner? Do you have kids? The reason I ask is because while I've been on summer break as a teacher, I usually run in the mid-mornings. Well, I return to work next week, but I want to continue my jogging. I…

Jogging and walking...increasing jogging by 10% weekly?
Here is what my last three "runs" looked like. I'm trying to get to just jogging. I have been trying to do this 2-3x/week for the last month or so. Should I go ahead and increase my jogging by another 2 minutes when I jog again this week (probably Thursday)? 7/29 (Wed): 18 min jogging/22 min walking 7/31 (Fri): 22 min…

Eat, exercise, eat?
I haven't jogged this early in the day before today. I ate an apple with natural pb to fuel my run (basically my breakfast). I will go jog in a few minutes. So, what should I eat after my run? I usually do skim chocolate milk as a recovery drink and treat, but I probably should actually eat something too, right? It'll be…

Jogging success
I've recently started jogging and walking (working my way up to full jogging). Wednesday when I went out last, I jogged for 17 minutes interspersed with 23 minutes of walking. I just got back today, and I was able to jog for 22 minutes with 18 minutes of walking. It looks like I'm increasing the jogging time. In fact, the…

The Power of Compliments
I know we all love compliments. Well, I went to a retirement party today for one of my coworkers. I'm a teacher, but I've been on maternity leave since December. Therefore, I haven't seen a lot of these people since then. Almost everyone who was there complimented me on how good I look and how I don't look like I have…

"Think and Lose"?
Anyone familiar with this hypnosis program? I was just watching an infomercial for it, and it actually seems to be things I've actually learned to an extent. The guy says that your eating is controlled by your brain (your cravings, etc.).

Where does one find…
