Weighing yourself
Hi, So I reached my current goal last week and I was wondering how one gets comfortable with the idea of weighing themselves only once per week. I have been weighing myself twice per day during my journey, and I obsess over a pound or any potion thereof. I know that one's weight fluctuates throughout a week while in…

Anyone else having trouble with this site?
I cannot get in to my food log or my home page, only the community for some reason. It's been hours. Anyone else having trouble?

Riddle me this...
So, I use the elliptical often, and I wear my HRM while working out. The other day my husband convinced me to take a spin class. It was out of my comfort zone, but I kept up, and I was dripping with sweat throughout. My heart rate was higher while spinning than it is while on the elliptical. When the class was finished I…

Tilapia with cilantro lime quinoa
I just tried this recipe tonight and it was really good. Even my quinoa hating husband ate it. There is a lot of flavor in the quinoa, disguising it's boring facade. http://www.foodfaithfitness.com/easy-tilapia-recipe-with-cilantro-and-lime/

What do you do with pb2?
I just bought a jar of pb2 and tried it on an English muffin. It does the trick, but it's quite dry. What do you use it on/in?

As of today I am no longer considered obese (with pics)!
When I started this journey I didn't really have a goal in mind, but I have been curious lately what I should be aiming for. I looked up my BMI and was sad to discover that I was still (as of yesterday) considered obese. The scale tipped in my favor this morning and I thought it was a good reason to celebrate and post pics…

Mac N Cheese "muffins" with spinach
I just found this recipe on pinterest and I thought I would share it. Like this blogger I have trouble with my pasta portions so this is an awesome solution. I worked out the nutritional info and when using low fat cheese and 2 egg whites the values are as follows: Cals 144, Carbs 16, Fat 3, Sugar 0, Protein 9. Happy…

Italian wedding soup (86 cals per cup)
I made an easy, low fat, low cal Italian Wedding Soup tonight for dinner and it was great! Best of all it works out to be 86 cals per 1 Cup servings, so at 172 cals for 2 Cups I'll be making it again. It gives me an excuse to eat crackers or toast. YUM! ITALIAN WEDDING SOUP (adapted from Cooks.com) 380g low fat, lean…

Calling all peanut butter addicts!
I just found this recipe for Oatmeal Peanut Butter Banana Bars on Pinterest. I haven't tried them yet because I don't have any applesauce, but I'm seriously considering boiling an apple right now so that I can eat a bar within the hour and have them ready for my daughter in the morning.…

English muffin recipe
Hi all, I haven't found whole wheat english muffins in the UK and I am really craving one! I looked up how to make English muffins and it seems fairly simple if you have a general idea how to bake. I thought I'd share the recipe for those who like to bake or are in to clean eating. Here is the website:…

Ham, spinach, asparagus, and tomato quiche!
I made up a new recipe tonight as I was experimenting with phyllo dough as a crust for quiche. My sister in law was here and raved about the recipe so I thought I'd share. The best part? It was 194 calories for 1/4 of the entire pie! Ham and asparagus quiche: 75g phyllo dough (I used 5 sheets and trimmed the edges) 40…

Morning vs Evening calories burned?
I was just wondering if there is any explanation behind the difference in calories burned in the morning vs. the evening? I work out in the morning but on the rare occasion that I just can't get my butt out of bed I make up my workout in the evening. I have noticed that I ALWAYS burn more cals in the morning. Sometimes…

How much does your weight fluctuate per week?
Hi lovely, tall women of MFP! I have been MIA for a while, indulging in life (food and fun), but as I am close to goal I have been playing with maintenance trying to see how it all works and knowing that I hadn't planned to be "good" over the holidays. I am obsessed with the scale and in the past I have weighed myself…

If this isn't an NSV...
This is what I did tonight: Yep, cupcakes (for daughter's Christmas Fayre), 2 cakes (one for work, one for family), mini pies (work party), and a ham, cheese, and tomato tart (hubby and daughter's dinner), AND I didn't eat any of it. I opted for a glass of wine instead. Even with the wine, that's an NSV in my book!

I hit a 100 pound loss today!
I can't believe this day has come, I haven't weighed 173 since college! I started out with a goal of making it to under 200 and then I thought it would be nice to reach the 100 pound mark so I kept striving for it. All of the support from MFPers has gotten me here (well that, hard work, and determination :} ). The serious…

30DS results on a mom's body.
So scared to post this! I am totally embarrassed about my awful stretch marks, but I know that there are tons of us out there. Here's to the mom's bods! By the way 30DS was the only exercise I did for the 33 days (I did 31 days of 30DS with 2 days off). During that time I tried eat as clean as possible, eating high protein…

May-October, down 65 pounds (pics in the same coat)
I was just going through recent pics from my holiday and in the album I found both of these which show me wearing the same coat. The first one was taken in May and the second was taken a couple of weeks ago. During that time I have lost approx 65 pounds. Here is a pic from my highest weight, 90 pounds heavier: Here is a…

Resisting "him" NSV
I went to Croatia over the summer and had a love affair with Paprika Pringles (they are the bee's knees!). A couple of weeks ago I went to Amsterdam and fell in love again. I picked up a couple of tubes because they are only sold in the EU, and brought some home for friends and family that are equally obsessed. Today I was…

Sushi!
I'm so proud of myself, I made sushi rolls tonight! Since we moved to the UK we haven't found any sushi comparable to what we used to eat (weekly) in California. I went to the shop tonight and they were selling sushi grade tuna so I became totally inspired! It took a lot longer than I had expected to prepare it but it was…

Potato Bacon Soup
The temperature has dropped significantly so I thought it was time to pull out the fall/winter recipes. Here is a fantastic comfort food that doesn't taste low fat. Enjoy! Potato Bacon Soup In a non-stick pan, saute: 1 teaspoon butter 2 medium onions, chopped 3 ounces canadian bacon, chopped (in the UK use normal bacon)…

Try Broccoli stems (great under marinara)!
I saw this recipe posted on "The People's Market's" Facebook page the other day. It sounded interesting and looked FABULOUS! Tonight, I made spaghetti for my family which means that I made my mom's amazing spaghetti sauce. I really wanted the sauce but I didn't want all of the pasta carbs. I remembered this recipe and…

NS(major)V
I have a pair of vintage Levi cords that I bought when I was 19 and although I haven't worn them for years and years I kept them because they are so cool! I tried them on today and THEY FIT! They are a bit tight, but I have been wearing them all morning. Not the best pic, but here they are:

Drastic change in heart rate
Hi all, I have a HRM that I use during every workout. I am doing the 30Ds and I am on day 14 (in between levels, it's not like I've started something new). Usually my working HR is around 170-174, 184 being the highest ever. Today during my workout my HR was over 200. What would cause such a drastic increase? What can I do…

Shrimp (or tofu?) and Green Bean Saute, YUM!
I have had this recipe for ages, but I have always used red wine vinegar, cider vinegar or wine. Tonight I bought sherry vinegar and it totally makes the recipe! The paprika and garlic are so flavorful, I bet it would be good with tofu too! I serve it with brown rice. INGREDIENTS 4 cups green beans, trimmed, about 12…

Clean Eating Question
I am just starting to research clean eating. I love the idea of it, but I am a reformed processed foods junky, so I haven't yet embraced it fully...baby steps! Luckily I was raised by a hippie health nut (essentially clean eating, a lot of trail mix and granola!) so I have a taste for good, healthy food. My question is…

Working through an injury question.
Quick question: Today I got a small shoulder joint injury during my first day of level 2 30ds. I stopped using weights and concentrated on cardio, but can I work out with weights tomorrow? Should I modify the program, delay it, go back to a modified level one until I'm better (since I know that level and what to expect)? I…

Who wants taco cupcakes?
I do! I just saw this recipe posted on facebook (through wholly guacamole) and it sounds delicious. It also sounds easy to adapt to specific tastes/dietary restrictions. Enjoy! http://www.emilybites.com/2011/08/taco-cupcakes.html
