Morning vs Evening calories burned?

I was just wondering if there is any explanation behind the difference in calories burned in the morning vs. the evening? I work out in the morning but on the rare occasion that I just can't get my butt out of bed I make up my workout in the evening. I have noticed that I ALWAYS burn more cals in the morning. Sometimes it's not a huge difference, but I feel like I have to work a lot harder in the evening with less to show for it. Does it have something to do with the fact that when I work out in the morning my resting heart rate is lower since I am just waking up?

I'm not exactly sure on the reasoning why. Buy I read in a fitness mag that you burn more calories if you exercise first thing in the morning before you eat anything. Maybe it has something to do with that. The more food your packing around the less you burn. lol.0

If you are full of energy and rested before a workout you put more effort into it and burn more calories.0

It's possibly just because you're a bit drained from the day, and though you may think you're working harder, it's actually the whole day catching up with you.0
