RAGBRAI Friends
If you don't know what that is it's a cycling event where you ride your bike across the state of Iowa. I'm thinking about doing it and am looking for friends who are or have in the past.

Advice about drop bar road bike
I just got myself a road bike. Nothing fancy, it's a drop bar style that I got off Amazon for $200 but it's a good starting point for me. Prior to this I have ridden a mountain bike and it was fine but I love my new road bike and cycling in general. The problem I am having is the getting my hands comfortable on the drop…

Help with my heart rate monitor.
I have a Polar FT4 heart rate monitor with the chest strap. I used to use it all the time before I got my Fitbit Charge HR and it worked when I put it away. Now I have given up on my Fitbit and tried out my HR monitor and I can't get the monitor to sync on the watch. I have replaced the batteries in both the watch and the…

Oil Less Fryer?
Does anyone have one of these? Are they all the hype that the advertisements say or just a glorified counter top oven??

hmvanwink check in
Hi All! I declared that Monday would be my first day of OMAD and I am here to say I have failed! Not completely but I am struggling with only one meal. I have cut calories dramatically and I am losing but I have obstacles to overcome and hunger is not either of them. The first is breaking the routine of eating. I am lucky…

KT Tape or Rock Tape
Does anyone have any experience with KT Tape or Rock tape? I'm curious about opinions on either. Does one work better than the other or are they the same thing just by different companies?

Long bike ride, feel like a zombie the next day.
I have recently gotten into biking. I love it. I'm usually a walker who dabbles in running. I love getting on the bike and getting off of my normal routes and going father and seeing new things. Monday night I went on a long ride. It was 90 minutes on gravel roads and it was awesome. If it hadn't started to get dark, I…

Why do I retain water so bad in the heat??
This may be a dumb question, but it's hot and I am a sweater, yet I retain water like crazy when I'm in the heat. I can tolerate the heat just fine. I can be out in it, drink bottles and bottles of water, have sweat pouring off me like crazy yet I won't pee all day and I swear I retain everything I drink until in the cool…

Any Phablet users???
I really want to get the iPhone 6 Plus. I'm just concerned on how to carry it. I don't carry my purse everywhere and I doubt it will fit in my pocket like my Galaxy S4 will. When I run I usually just hold it in my hand, but when I'm out and about I put it in my front jeans pocket. Anyone have one of these large phones?…

Charge HR exercise calories really high
I just bought the Charge HR and have been wearing it for a week now. I have a Polar FT4 HRM too. My Polar will say I burned 400 calories in an hour long workout, but my new Charge HR will say I burned 600! The heart rates on both devices are the same so that is a huge difference! Has anyone else experienced this?? What is…

Lunch Time Workout Ideas
Do any of you work out over lunch? I get an hour at home, but I never do it because I don't want to get sweaty and go back to work. I'm a morning person but I am having a case of the winter blues and I'm having a lot of trouble getting up in the morning so I'm looking for temporary Plan B. By night time, I get cold and…

Armband leaving an indent on my arm
I have had my BM for a little more than 3 months. I love it. But I have noticed that when I take it off I have an indent on my bicep from the band. I still have quite a bit of fat on my arms and it's not tight but has anyone else noticed this? I took it off 2 days ago and there is still a slight indent from the band. It's…

Looking for motivated and active friends
Yesterday was 680 days on MFP. I have lost 76 lbs so far, but have been stuck in a rut mentally and have not lost, or gained, anything since last October. I exercise every day but my eating habits are no good. I need some motivating friends to keep me in check. I'm not a friend collector so I need friends that are here…

Ladies...Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
I am having one done on Monday and I am wondering what to expect. Has anyone had one done? How quick of a recovery did you have? I've had 2 c-sections so I guess in my mind, this will be a piece of cake compared to that. Am I crazy??

Can Running stall weight loss?
Please don't think I'm crazy. I can't think of anything other reason why I'm having such trouble. A little history on me. I have been at this for 16 months. SW was 284, CW 209, GW 150. 38 yo female, 5"6'. The first 4 months of this journey I only walked and dropped 40 lbs. Then I started running and lifting, recovered from…

Lifting while still trying to lose?
I have read so many posts on this subject lately that now I myself am confused. I guess I'm questioning how if you need to eat more to build muscle and eat at a deficit to lose weight how does the in-between work? Why lift while still trying to lose weight? If I am eating at a deficit I won't build muscle, right? But I am…

Any Body Media Link Users out there???
I have had mine a week and love it. I am shocked at the calorie burn that I am getting during exercise and how much my daily activity makes a difference in my total calorie burn. Sunday I got a good workout, cleaned the house, played some bball, went for a short walk and burned over 3300 calories that day. Monday I rested…

I need a kick in the *kitten*
Today is my 425th day with MFP, so I'm not a newbie. I am only halfway to my goal and have hit a wall. I feel like I'm just going through the motions right now. I'm bored with my daily workouts and out of ideas to change it up. I live too far away from a gym (15 miles in a different town) and can't really afford to buy…

Anybody use The Firm workouts??
I do. I love The Firm. I have 3 different programs of thiers. I'm thinking of buying a new one for something new in The New Year. But for about the same price, I can order T25 or even P90X3. I have never tried a Beachbody program before. I have always stuck with The Firm because it's what I know and like. Has anyone done…

Galaxy S4 vs iPhone 5S
I see there was a thread in the forums from last spring about this, but now both phones are out which is the way to go? I am a die hard Galaxy lover, I have the S2 currently and will be upgrading in a couple weeks. Everyone I know has the iPhone so it seems very generic to me, but the ease of iTunes and all my playlists on…

White Potatoes
Are they really that bad for you? I'm not talking about fried in oil french fries or hash browns or even drowned in butter and gravy mashed. I'm just talking about a plain old baked potato with a little butter and possibly some light sour cream. I was comparing a regular white potato with a sweet potato and the sweet…

I'm bored with my workouts... need suggestions please.
I used to walk, which turned into running, which turned into a stress fracture in my shin. So I can't do any jumping activities or high impact for a month or two. I bike, I have The Firm DVD's and I go to a gym for elliptical and heavy weight lifting but only once a week because that is all I have time for. I have…

If you are not supposed to eat below your BMR...
why does MFP set my calories at 1260. That is using Lightly active and 2 lbs per week weight loss. I still have 60 lbs left to lose, I'm 38 yo, 5'6" female and I was exercising an hour each day. I have figured my BMR at 1730 and my TDEE is 2150 using an activity level calculator. If I take 20% off of 2150 and I get 1750.…

Exercise Bike vs Bike Trainer??
Differences? Advantages or disadvantages to either? It's getting pretty dark in the mornings now so I think it's time to bring it inside. TBH I have a bike trainer and a mountain bike. We installed the bike on the bike trainer last winter and something went wrong and the skewer ruined the wheel bearing on the bike. So we…

Cooking for one??
I don't normally cook for just me. Usually when I cook it's for my family and if I'm by myself I just heat up a healthy choice or a bowl of soup or something. But we have been on the go all week, pizza and fast food and I will be alone for supper tonight again and I want real food. I don't want easy mac and a hot dog…
