So hungry after lifting!
That's it really, I end up starving after lifting and last night I binged quite spectacularly on crap so I need a contingency plan but don't know what I should be consuming, I'm guessing protein? What kind of thing do you guys have? A shake? Or in a different form. Thanks

Barbell squats
Do you go front or back? I read that front is better as less strain on your back, but I find front quite awkward to do and think this will only get worse as I lift heavier. Thoughts? Thanks

Did I not lift enough?
I did my first Stronglifts 5x5 workout yesterday evening and I expected to ache today but I feel nothing! Did I not lift enough?

Just done my first work out!
Using 45lbs (inc barbell) I just did my first 5x5 work out! I really enjoyed it but going to have to get a squatting bar as was quite difficult to do without (using fiancé's weights at home). Feel like I could lift a little more on rows, maybe more on squats, but bench press was pretty tough. Just been looking at all the…

Stronglifts 5x5
Has anybody used the above program and did you have any success with it? Thanks

What time do you work out?
Are you an early bird? A night owl? Just curious really as I'd like to start getting up earlier than usual and working out then but not sure if I will be able to drag myself out of bed! Also if you work out early, do you eat before or after?

Do HRMs work for weight lifting re: calorie burn?
That's it really. Thanks

Calories
Good morning all, I'm starting to weight train 3 x a week (20 mins per session), jog 3 x a week (again 20 mins) and hopefully, if I can fit it in, yoga 2 x a week for half an hour a time. I'm unsure of what I should be eating calorie wise. I'm not aiming to lose weight, just change shape. Is it going to be trial and error…

Plans for a new regime - unsure of calorie intake
Ok so I'm planning to shake up my way of life with regard to exercise and eating. I'm quitting doing just cardio and working on both cardio, weights and also yoga a couple of times a week. But I've no idea what my calorie intake should be. I'm not trying to lose weight anymore, just change the shape of my body. But I have…

Fed up!
Hey everyone, I'm totally peed off today. I feel like giving up in a way. I'm on my period, which isn't helping, and I have given up chocolate for lent (not for religious reasons, just as a challenge) but all I want to do is snaffle down a bucket full of chocolate digestives. Apart from the time of the month, part of the…

People who weight train - I need some advice please
With the help of one of my MFP friends, I think I've realised where I am going wrong on this journey. I have become obsessed with the scales, I weigh myself every morning, if I go over my calories I am disappointed and angry at myself, if I have an off day I feel guilty and disgusted - no matter how much I try to pretend…

HRM
What's the best HRM to get? I've read about Fitbit, Polar etc. Also, which is better, the chest strap or watch? I've tried to investigate it myself but feel like I'm going round in circles! I don't have a lot of money to spend on one but obviously would like a decent one, so I can save if need be... I think! Thanks for…

Calisthenics
I don't have the time, nor can I afford to go to the gym. I only have 3 and 5lb weights at home. I currently plank, do squats, walk and go jogging. I want to build my upper body strength too. I just want to get fit! Any key moves that work well for people at home? Not just arms, I want all over fitness!

Daily or weekly
If you fancy a little treat or whatever, but you're pretty much up to your daily calorie target, do you check your weekly target and see if there's room on there?

Totally confused!
I recently started running (well, jogging I suppose) as I take my dog for a 2-2.5 miles walk every evening and it was a convenient way to incorporate a work out into my schedule. I've now read more than one article saying that running is bad for your skin (?), bad for your joints, that jogging isn't a good fat burner but…

Calling all sugar addicts!
I've got to admit it, I'm a sugar addict! Has anyone read The Sweet Poison Quit Plan? Did it work? I've got to break out of this cycle! :explode: I know I'm an addict because I can go so many days with nothing and and I quite literally start jonesing for chocolate and I have an almighty binge and then feel gross! I've read…

Chinese takeaway
MFP lists a carton of king prawn fried rice as 504 cals, this seems very low! I'm having a takeaway tonight and can't decide what will be lowest between that, king prawn chow mein or vegetable chow mein? (I'm pescatarian) Any ideas? Conflicting info on MFP re calories. Have posted in food and nutrition but got no replies…

What's happening?!
Over the last three days (have just finished my period incidentally) I have felt so up and down and just wanted to pig out and drink wine and not log and not do anything. I've still exercised and I have logged what I have eaten even though a lot of it has been crap. But then I've felt guilty and awful and I seem to be…

Disapproval from others?
Hi all I've lost half a stone ish since the beginning of the year, been exercising and using MFP as a food and exercise diary. I feel good about myself and weigh less than I have since I was about 17. The only thing is, my fiancé thinks I'm overdoing it (don't think I am exercise wise but I admit I am logging everyday and…

Pushing through that feeling of "argh!"
I've only been logging since the beginning of the year and I am already feeling frustrated on and off with it. I know people on here have been logging for years, do you just push through the feeling or have a week off or what? I don't want to lose motivation.

Jogging for exercise
I'm just starting jogging with my dog, not very far at the moment, close to two miles, twice a day. Does anyone else jog for exercise, is it any good for toning? Or do I need to be doing calisthenics or weights or similar?

When you don't want to calorie count
Hi everyone, I joined MFP at the beginning of the year, I didn't have a lot to lose and I have reached my goal, although now I kind of want to lower it a few more pounds but that's another story. Anyway, I was wondering if you guys all log on and stay within your calorie goal, every day. I've had a couple of days where…

Heart rate without HRM - opinions/advice please
So I walk about 5 miles a day with my dog, around 4mph pace, I use MapMyWalk app. It estimates calories used but since I've started getting to grips with heart rate/calorie burn, I decided to try and estimate my average HR and log it via www.shapesense.com and see how many cals it says I've burned on there, using age,…

PMS
I have just binged spectacularly on biscuits and a bag of sweets and not logged any of it! ???????? I'm noticing a pattern in the days leading up to my period, not all months but most, I have a literally uncontrollable urge to eat, mainly things that are high in calories! It's driving me crazy! I try so hard to stay within…

HRM
I want to buy an HRM but can't afford the costly ones. I would like one that doesn't give calorie burn for the average person but gives an accurate burn, so I think that means one with a chest strap? Don't really know what I'm looking for, anyone got one that didn't cost them an arm and a leg? Cheers

Ripped in 30 calorie burn
Hello all, I'm 130lbs, 5 foot 6 and use 3lb weights (not moved up to my 5s yet!) Anyone similar & actually know how many cals they burn doing RI30? I was red and sweating when I finished, I put a lot of effort in and apart from the press ups I didn't do the modified version of anything. Don't have a HRM (can't afford at…

Choosing activity level

Chest region! Ladies only!
Hi everyone, I've got to my goal weight, and am thinking about reducing it by a couple more pounds but I have already lost an inch off my chest and am afraid to lose more weight in case they go any smaller! Has anyone got an experience of this? Do boobs just keep on shirking or do they eventually get to a plateau? Help! S x
