Read your labels!! GROSS!
I've been trying to make a more concerted effort to read food labels -- not just the general nutrition information, but the ingredients as well. ALL of the ingredients. One of my potential choices for lunch today was soup. Aside from sodium, the overall nutritional information looked pretty good. Then, I read the…

suggestions for home gym?
I am considering the purchase of some weight training equipment to use in my home. I'm interested in an all-in-one unit -- free weights are not an option. Does anyone have any recommendations? (brand, specific features, etc.)

BodyMedia display not working
I just received my BodyMedia Core armband and display in the mail today. Armband is charged and appears to be working properly, but the display won't do anything. No light. No 'response' when any combination of buttons are pushed/held for any amount of time. I'm really hoping that I missed the part in the manual about how…

"Real Age" NSV
I just got done taking my 'Real Age' assessment. (realage.com) The last time I did it was one year ago - just before I started with MFP. I've made some changes in the last year -- I'm eating better (still not great, but better), I'm exercising, I'm handling stress differently, and I quit drinking diet soda. Thanks to those…

half marathon.... realistic?
A friend has asked me to join her in running a half-marathon in May -- just over 17 weeks away. I've been exercising a bit - treadmill mostly, but nothing too strenuous. Is it realistic for a non-runner like myself to be able to run a half in that amount of time? (I don't need a spectacular time -- I'd be happy just to…

deep fat frying - how to count it in a recipe?
Admittedly, deep fat frying is not the healthiest option - but there are some traditional holiday recipes for which there is no way around it! I'm not sure how to account for that frying process when I'm entering a recipe here on MFP. What is the best way to calculate that?

body media question
Each day, BMF gives me a number for 'total calories burned'. Is that number my TDEE? (I feel rather silly asking this. It seems like it should be rather simple, but for some reason, I can't quite get this straight in my head. Sorry....)

Just need to vent! :(
Good morning ~ I've been dealing with some custody/visitation issues with my ex for the last few weeks. Actually, it's kind of been a recurring thing for a number of years. I won't go into great detail as it is not my intention to 'bash' him. However, in the midst of all of this arguing and 'negotiating', he has clearly…

NSV - reached a goal!!
 Today, I went to the store to find replacements for some pants that I had to get rid of. They had gotten too big -- not to the point where they were simply 'comfortable', or 'roomy', but falling-off, looking-ridiculous big. That was encouraging - but what was even better, was finding that the pants that DID fit,…

I lost my pants!!!
What I experienced this evening is definitely a 'first' for me. Just now, I picked up my daughter from her evening activity and was running with her back to our vehicle when I literally lost my pants! :embarassed: I knew that they were loose - but I certainly didn't expect that!!! I was grateful that I was wearing a long…

NSV! :)
This weight-loss process has been exceptionally slow. I started MFP (again) around Valentine's Day. I've lost 12 pounds so far - about 1/3 of the way to my goal. Not a bad start, but I find it hard to not get discouraged - especially when my loss so far is not enough to 'show' (or at least for people to notice). However...…

hip pain after walking/running
I walk regularly, and attempt to run occasionally. I enjoy running while I'm doing it, but afterward (for DAYS afterward) I have considerable pain on the posterior side of my hip joints. I am diligent about stretching before and after a run, but it seems to do little good. My chiropractor has done some deep-tissue rehab…

xbox 360 games?
Good morning! We recently purchased an xbox 360 with kinect. I'm not very familiar with what is available for games that might also be a good workout. I'd love to hear from any of you that have something that you love (or something that was a total waste of money!) Any suggestions, recommendations, or warnings would be…

Does it matter if exercise time is 'earned' in increments?
Maybe this is a dumb question. When I exercise, does it matter if the total amount of time I enter was actually compiled of several smaller increments? I have a meeting tonight - I will probably run there (approximately 10 minutes). Two hours later, I will run back home (another 10 minutes) and after the kids are settled…

NSVs.. a good day!
So... it's still pretty early in the game, but things are changing! My HABITS are changing - and others are noticing: Last night, my hubby commented about how hard I've been working out and that he was impressed by my determination. (My hubby is a super-sweet guy, but he is a man of very few words. The fact that he…

I don't need a "friend", I need a drill sargeant!
I've only been at this for a couple of weeks (this time). I always start out pretty strong and am able to lose a few pounds. Then, before long, I start to get a little more 'complacent' about logging, skipping workouts, etc. So, I get frustrated and soon I am not doing it at all. I go back to my 'normal' ways until I gain…

Calorie intake prior to MFP?
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what their daily calorie intake was prior to tracking it here on MFP? I've only been seriously tracking for a few days, and am amazed as I think about the number of calories in the all of the things that I had been eating on a regular basis. I'm guessing that simply by cutting out…

Starting all over again! Ugh!
So... I'm just venting. :grumble: This whole weight-loss thing has been so frustrating. I don't have that much to lose, overall -- 15 pounds or so, but I am a true sugar addict, and cutting all of the junk out of my diet has been a gigantic feat! The first couple of weeks were great -- stayed within my calories, exercised…
