I gave her a pet roach to follow her around and cure this problem.2

Is she upset and saying no one loves her because the roach did not follow her around?1
-
No but my ex did2
-
.... what if she's right?2

She does use emotional blackmail. She's well trained in the dark arts0

No. That would be a very childish response, not expected from an adult.0

My Mom, no. Mother-in-law, yes.0

We all feel unloved and underappreciated sometimes.
I remember two instances where I wailed "nobody loves me, nobody cares about me" or something along those lines then proceeded to throw myself on the floor sobbing.
Once when I was 6 and wanted a pony and once when I was 52 and I had dropped my dinner on the floor and my husband laughed at me.
Never underestimate the emotional response of a six year old or a menopausal woman.

More importantly though, what happened to your husband's dinner? Please don't tell me that he went hungry.0 -
Mother in law all the time... My fiancé and I started turning it in a joke, so to make her laugh.0

No. My mother died several years ago but did not say those things. She tended to not tell people when she was upset or hurt at all. Very much bottled things up.0

I call that an emotional vampire. Tell her to provide examples.1

If you don't love her or care about her, why were you listening to her when she said that? Answer me that, Mom.0

No. She upsets me instead0

Mine says odd things like that she wishes my brother was an only child. Whatever that means.2
-
Yes. I don't think she even has to be particularly upset about anything.0
-
Its rather obvious that said "mother" is childish and probably loosely wrapped0
