Consuming more calories because of cycle training
Last week I started my outdoor cycle training which caused a huge increase in my calorie burn and to a slightly lesser extent calorie intake. Coincidentally I started slowly leveling off at my target weight. After one week I've surprisingly gained three pounds, which I suspect is related to the calorie intake increase.…

Hey All You Pregnant Ladies/Post Prego Mommas
I posted this in fitness and exercise but I'll try here too  So. I haven't been on here in forever mostly because I got pregnant. I was doing AWESOME prior to pregnancy, toning, gym 5 days a week, eating clean--then again that's always been my main focus--being healthy. I'm now 6 months pregnant and aside from…

I want to suceed this time!
Hello super maintainers! Apologies for a long post...skip down if too much. In 2013 I lost 39lb going from a BMI of 26.5 to 20. I was so pleased that I'd surpassed the BMI of 23 (where I normally was before pregnancy and post baby binging) that I thought was my limit. It was easy to get there and I did it slowly over about…

A question for those in the know.
Hi there, Sorry if this is a longish post. Around a year ago I gradually decided to cut down my alcohol intake and eating of large amounts of junk food; I'm not sure if it was a bit of a mid-life crisis, vanity; fear of an untimely death or a combination of all. At first I just gradually cut alcohol intake and junk foods.…

Wired jaw- wasting away.
I dislocated my jaw and had surgery last week. I'm a thin girl anyway, so any weight loss will definitely not be cool. Unfortunately, drinking all my meals makes it difficult to avoid. Now that the swelling is down and the meds aren't making me nauseous I'm ready to try some different stuff. I'm making smoothies, slurping…

Starting a new job next week
I am starting a new job next week (I've been unemployed for a couple of years) and I'm thinking of going into maintenance until the end of the month so that I can have an easier time adjusting to a different eating schedule and to a different activity level. Thoughts on the matter? Suggestions?

Has anyone tried maintaining in the middle of weight loss?
I was thinking about it today. I may decide to try and maintain for 6 months after my first 100lbs. Just so my body and mind can have a break and get adjusted I guess. I'm also thinking it'll help me make this a permanent change. Then after the 6 months jump back on it and loose the last 40-50lbs but do it super slowly…

How many calories?
I'm struggling to figure out how many calories I should be on. I've been on 1200 since Jan to get down to my goal weight. Which worked out very well. I never starved myself or felt ill. I'm 5 ft 4 and female. Recently been told it was too less and I should be on more (don't need to be told this now as I know now) but now I…

Close to goal
I need guidance please. I only have 8.5 lbs until goal. How does one maintain? I read add 50 calories a week and see how that works. Is that a good guideline? Thanks in advance for your time. Blessings.

Which scale is more accurate?
My doctor's fancy digital scale reading differs from the reading on the mechanical one that I have at home with the easy-to-read dial. I'm wearing the same clothes for both but the results are totally different. My doctor's digital scale says that I gained 1 lb. in three weeks but my bathroom one says I've lost 4 lbs. I…

Ode to Logging!
Logging is good Logging is smart Then again - it sucks a lot. Is it logging I hate, Or is it having to limit what I eat That drives me ape? I love not being fat anymore I can do so much more But it’s so very tough To keep it all off. Many people don’t need to log And maybe someday I’ll be free, In the meantime I’ll do my…

Stop gaining weight
Hi everyone. I haven't logged in a while. I've been successfully maintaining my weight at around 115 lbs at 5'3.5'' for about 1 and half years now. However, recently I have been gaining weight. I got really sick 3 months ago and was intubated in the ICU. I was kept NPO (no food) for 3 days and then on day 4-day 7 they…

Has anyone lost more weight without trying after reaching your goal
my original goal was 120 lbs but when I reached 125 I decided to start maintaining since I was happy where with my weight. I was still tracking my calories to get an idea at eating at maintanance. However I have since lost more weight since I can feel it in my clothes and the scale is now reading 115 lbs.Allot people told…

So far the best way of maintaining your weight loss is to log. But my family and friends constantly go out. For those who say "they eat what they want and still maintain" does this include going out eating and drinking socially?

Anxious about increasing calories after reaching goal weight
Hi all, I'm rapidly closing in on my goal weight, but am starting to get very anxious about the prospect of increasing my calories once that weight is reached, for fear of just gaining the weight back. Do you all typically ease yourself up to a maintenance level or just plunge into it, and more importantly can someone just…

TDEE & My fitness pal explain?
hi could anyone please explain why some people use their TDEE amount for maintainence instead of my fitness pal maintaince goal? Is it better? Many thanks

Mentally preparing yourself to maintain
I'm having a hard time believing it's ok for me to maintain at my current size. A month or so ago, I decided I wanted to and would move into it (not hard because I've always been someone who had maintenance days on a regular basis). I love to eat so finding the calories isn't the hard part. I'm having trouble not thinking…

24 hour fasts almost everyday. Bad idea?
I eat almost all my calories in the morning (1500-1600) and don't eat anything until the next morning. I get tired earlier than usual eating like this, but it has been working for me otherwise. I've been eating like this on and off for 2 months. Will this have any long term negative effects?

Be careful with MFP calorie estimates - don't work for everyone
My goal is to maintain my weight. If I eat according to MFP, I gain weight. If I eat according to My Tracks, I maintain. MFP or MapMyRide consistently estimate my calories burned during a bike ride by 200% to 350%. For example, I rode 41 minutes today, 16-20 mph, and MFP imported from MapMyRide that I burned 632 calories;…

Not gaining once reached goal
I reached my goal weight and then surpassed it. I decided that that weight was unhealthy and I try to stick within a 5lb range. I uped my calories from 1200 to 1500 and ever since then I cannot stop eating!!!! It's crazy. I was hard and fast on my 1200 calories for over 4 months. The last 1.5 months have been such a…
