NYE Squat/pullup challenge 2015

Options
Getting in early to see if there is interesting.

The challenge is to complete 2015 pullups or Squats (with your own body weight on your back) on New Years Eve.

So you could do 2015 pullups if you wanted or you could do 1000 pullups and 1015 squats etc. etc.

If you weigh 100kg then you put 100kg on your back to squat.

This challenge is clearly easier for lighter people :stuck_out_tongue:

Modified weighs for females: 2/3 BW for squats, pullups can be done with a resistance band of approximately 50% of body weight.

I got this idea from Timbahwolf who has done pullups only for the last 2 years. This is an endurance event! It took him 7hrs first time and 5hrs the second.

If I get a few people on board, I might even see if I can set it up as an event to raise money for a charity.

So who is up for it? Still a few months to train

That's a challenge not many people can do. And those that can have to be crazy enough to take it on. 2000+ reps is very daunting.

2015 reps with 200lbs on the bar? Are you smoking crack?

To do that in one day is actually dangerous.

I think I could do it if I smoked crack.

For comparison, on Monday I did a set of 20 squats with 135 about 8 lbs over my body weight and it took about 2 minutes. To do 2015 would be 101 sets of 20 which, if I could do all 101 sets with the same speed would be over 3 1/2 hours under a bar.

I rather do 2015 squats than 2015 pull ups. Ouch

I think these are the actual directions to meet "Uncle Rhabdo" from crossfit? No?

I've done a 20 rep squat set with my body weight a few times. That is not pleasant. I can't imagine 2015 total reps.

fair enough. it is hard, that's why it is a challenge!

I'll be doing it. It will be hard no doubt but I like a good test.

The most reps I've done in one set at my BW is 55 by the way and that was 100% all out effort. I'll probably stick to sets of 20 or so.

I will be sincerely surprised if you get even a single taker.
And I'm really not being snarky here - this is just a pretty tall order for anyone who doesn't look like you (aka amazing badass lifting shape)

I could do MAYBE 50... at half my body weight... lol.

I understand it is very tough. Hmm...

Maybe doing it in teams would be possible? Maybe up to 5 people per team or so. Add the totals to get to 2015.

i'm thinking there are few, maybe zero people who could do 2015 pull ups in 24 hrs. Thats just under 84 pull ups every hour. 24 sets of 84 pull ups. I bet a LOT of people would have trouble doing 84 pull ups in 24 hrs lol

As I said, Timbahwolf did 2014 last year in 5 hours ish. That's where I got the idea from :)

yeah the pull ups would definitely be harder than the squats
