Got operation due how do I exercise afterwards

Hi, I've got a fairly minor operation due (full removal of toenail - big toe), and the nurse has told me to start with I'd have a comedy bandage then I'd have a normal but still fairly large bandage and closed shoes or trainers were out of the question it'd have to be slippers or sandals until healing is complete.

Thing is I like going to the gym and working out on their equipment, obviously I can't turn up in slippers or sandals or I'd get turned away, so how can I stay fit and active during healing which I'm told could take up to 6 weeks?

First, ask if you can even exercise during this time period. If you're having a toenail removed, you probably want to be careful during the recovery period following the operation. If they give the all clear for you to be in sneakers after a certain period of time, and think it's safe for you to exercise, by all means do so.

Don't overdo it without your doctor's permission, or embark on any plan while you're recovering without a doctor's consent. You don't want to exacerbate a problem or cause complications that could impede your ability to work out more!

When I had mine done I adjusted my diet accordingly and after a few days started some gentle walking and built back up from there. The main priority is to make sure it heals properly as long as you eat at the appropriate level for your less activity weight wont be an issue. Your fitness will come back once it heals properly so don't push too hard just because you feel you have to exercise

Work your way back up to it. Exercise is not necessary to weight loss.
