finally starting lifting

I got the book The New Rules of Lifting for Women for mothers day and I started the program this past week. I have done one day of stage 1A and one day of stage 1B. I did 1B last night and wow i'm sitting here at midnight and my legs are progressively getting more sore and I love it! It felt so weird to go to the gym and lift and I felt so intimidated to be around the weights. I wanted the book because it gives me an actual workout to do. Whenever I would try to lift I would over to that part of my gym and completely forget everything I was gonna do, feel frustrated, do a few things, and leave. This is making step out of my comfort zone which is a really good thing.
Some of the workouts confuse me and I had a co-worker teach me how to dead lift (using a broom we borrowed from housekeeping lol) but I am reading everything I can and watching you tube videos to make sure i am doing it right.
I hit a plateau a month ago, I hope this helps me move past it.

When my wife started lifting, she plateaued on her weight loss for about 3 weeks. But she also lost a whole lot of inches, on every part of her body, in the same time period.

So one suggestion: take your measurements right now, so you have something to compare to! Other than that, it sounds like you're doing everything perfectly. Congratulations!

^ Yes. And Photos. Do a before shot in something you'll be willing to post to success stories!

I lost all my weight doing cardio-only. I started lifting once I got to my goal weight and the changes in my body have been unreal! I wish I'd started sooner.

You are awesome. I wish you the best of luck as you continue with your experiences in weight training. Some great advice above (pictures/measurements). With a solid nutrition plan, and your persistance, I just know you'll see good results. I'm rooting for ya!
