Yeah, I do apologize for the current situation... The place where you live is getting older, and all the work being done around the joint has meant the insulation that separates you from your four counterparts upstairs is getting thinner. Don't worry though, they aren't very noisy and spent most of the past summer cleaning up and getting some sun, which they haven't done in a long time.
