First 5K in 9 Days, any tips?

Hey guys! I'm running my first 5K next Sunday and I'd greatly appreciate any advice or tips you guys might have.

One thing about me is that I run first thing in the morning and prefer not to eat before a run. I've read I shouldn't change habits on race day. Is that a good idea?

Good luck with it. definitely don't change your habits - try and eat your usual food your usual amount of time before hand (a couple of hours for me) and don't try any different sports drink on the day before the race. For the race, depending on how your training has been going, don't go out too hard then go as hard as you feel you can for the last half.

The important thing is to enjoy it, you will probably set a good time, but remember it is just a number that you can try and reduce and only means something to you.

    All the best.

Keep doing what you've been doing is very good advice, and that includes eating the usual things you eat, and wearing clothes/shoes you've already worn. Put your outfit together the night before, including your bib number if you have it. Allow extra time for driving/parking depending on event size. Hydrate an hour+ before hand and hit the restroom 15 or 20 minutes before start time.

Smile for the cameras! I'm still learning those one, as I'm concentrating so much on my breathing just to get through the race. It makes for much better pictures if you smile. Warm up with walking before the race, and cool down with walking and stretching after the race.

I do a lot better when I do a warm up run for ten minutes before the race. You should have a ton of excitement and adrenaline pumping for the race so you will probably do better than you think! Race day is not the time to change your routine!
