confused

since march, ive began using myfitnesspal. I have lost only 5 pounds since then..But recently 7 weeks ago, i started getting back on track and being "strict" with weight loss. However, the scale wont budge and the measurements wont seem to budge so much either. I am just confused on why this could be? I am tracking ALL my calories, never going over and making sure most of them are healthy calories, and exercising at least 30 minutes a day doing step aerobics. My weight will begin to go down & by the end of the week it seems to fluctuate back up.for example, my weight will be 150 pounds, start to go down to 147 and shoot back up to 151..i am confused. has this happened to anyone? How long did it take for you to actually notice a difference in inches/pounds etc. ?

As the posters above me have said, setting your diary to public (if you're comfortable doing so) might help us to spot what might be going on.

The usual suspects that we look at first are logging inaccuracies. Are you eyeballing any of your portion sizes? Using measuring cups and spoons or a food scale? Eating somewhere where you don't have control of ingredients (friends and family often use hidden cooking oils or butter that you may not log)? Choosing accurate entries in the database (a lot of entries, unfortunately, have been entered with wrong information)?

Personally, I lost most of my weight without ever using a food scale, but my logging is a lot easier and accurate now that I have one. If you're not using one, it might be worth looking into.

Are you having any cheat days? Or high sodium meals that might be causing you to retain water around your weigh in day?

Are you logging your exercise here and eating back any of the earned exercise calories that MFP adds to your goal? If so, what method are you using to estimate your burn? MFP and gym machines may overestimate certain activities. An HRM is better, but you still might want to eat back a smaller portion of those just in case.

I don't know how close to goal weight you are, but if you're relatively lean your weight loss might be slow and just masked by normal fluctuations on the scale. Is there a downward trend at all?

I still need to lose 20 pounds. i am 5'2'' and 150 pounds.. I measure my portions with cups & spoons & accurately log them. I have hypoglycemia so I have to eat sugar (which sucks). I dont have much cheat days as I moderately healthy, with a few portioned snacks here & there. I eat only at home and cook from scratch. soda, chips, fries, burgers, etc. are not part of my "diet".
