Trying to eat fewer carbs... now need 500 extra calories

I realised recently that carbs make me hungry. So I'm trying to lower them to around 50 a day. I've planned my meals for today, however, and now have 538 calories left. Really have no idea what to do with them. I'm already going to eat cheese, eggs, meat, vegetables.. so I'm stuck. We don't have much in the house either, at the moment.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas? I don't want to resort to eating butter, haha. Nothing expensive, either.

    Peanut butter.

If you're going to reduce carbs, you can eat fattier foods to make up the difference. Add oils (or even butter) to things you cook.

Like PP said, add in things like oil, butter, mayo, full fat dressing, sour cream, heavy cream to what you're eating.

If you cut carbs you naturally have to increase the consumption of fat or protein or both. FYI, two measly, one ounce handfuls of almonds will get you around 300ish.

    Protein & Fat.....cut out 1 macro, that's what you're left with.

Do you have nuts in the house....high fat. Roast your veggies in olive oil. Avocado is high calorie, add to salad. Full fat salad dressing. Sprinkle seeds on top.

Protein is going to be more expensive than whole grains (me, I love whole grains). I tend to eat well rounded meals (and snacks) so I stay full. Fiber is going to help too......green veggies in your case.

You make up the calorie difference with fat. Think of ways to incorporate things like butter, coconut oil, olive oil, heavy cream, sour cream and cheese into your meals -- it's not eating butter.

If you're not familiar with cooking with fat look up some traditional french recipes for ideas; think Julia Child.
