I like to eat out once a week and have a few sherries
How can I work out how many calories I'm having when eating out?

You'll have to guesstimate.
I find that the easiest way is to log things as close as possible in the MFP database, and ask to have dressings or oils etc reduced to decrease the amount of calories.
Some restaurants (around me at least) actually have calories and macro's next to meals on the menu. Maybe you could see if some places are like this for you too?0 -
If it's a chain restaurant, usually you can find nutrition information on their website. As for alcohol, you can find many of them in the database.0
