Looking for support

Hi guys, I used to do triathlons, but developed a pretty severe undiagnosable (so far) pain that prevents me from running anymore or really "pushing" myself hard like I was when training. I am now the heaviest I've been in a long while, but still only need to lose about 15 lbs. I'm in need of gaining muscle and losing inches, mostly. I'm a nutrition nut but still love my comfort foods. I've finally decided to join a gym since we moved into our house. We live directly across from a fitness trail that goes for miles but my new work schedule (often 8-8) and the shorter, cooler days keep me from using it as regularly as I'd like. I used MFP in the past with some luck, but have always hated feeling tethered to tracking. I've recently been looking into a Fitbit or some similar device (I know that doesn't really solve my food tracking issues) that can sync to my iPhone or something. I have a hrm watch that uses your fingers to take your hr (vs a strap). It works okay, but the battery is currently dead. Anyway! I'm trying to get back down to my regular weight now and to lose quite a few inches and gain some muscle.
I'm 28 (about to be 29 in 4 months) and my CW is I wanna say, upper 130's. 138 lbs maybe. My GW is 120-125lbs but more importantly, I'd like to be able to wear size 4 pants regularly. I'm in mostly 8's right now..my 6's are pretty uncomfortable, and my one pair of 4's aren't wearable out of the house. I'm hoping to at least lose the weight (16-18lbs) by my birthday, and if I need to keep working on slimming off inches, I can. My first goal is 5 lbs by Halloween, & then one lb a week until my birthday.
I'm searching for some kind of network I can plug myself into so I can have some support. Doing this alone is pretty hard.
