Maximum amount of iron?

I was reading a thread here the other day about iron needs and decided to buy some supplements, seeing as my diet is quite low in it. However, the supplements provide 114% of the RDA (for women, I believe, so about 14mg). My fitness pal says I have about 30% a day. So if I'm working this out correctly, I could end up having 21mg of iron a day. According to the NHS page here:
http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/vitamins-minerals/Pages/Iron.aspx
that would be dangerous... however, I'm not sure whether they mean an additional 20mg in supplements, as opposed to a total per day.
My blood tests results from the other day were fine (other than something about my thyroid levels being borderline) - do I really need more anyway, in this case?
I'm utterly confused now, can anyone help?

If your blood work is fine, you do not need to supplement with iron.0
