Running issue?

This may sound totally dumb... but here goes!

This morning was brisk (40-50s), I was going for a walk with a few bouts of running thrown in just to get warmed up and get my heart pumping. I would start running for a few minutes and my nose would run like crazy!!! Like I had to stop to blow it!!! I had tissues in my pocket because this has happened before, although I am relatively new to any running at all!

Does this happen to anyone else? And why? I mean, there aren't sweat glands INSIDE your nose! What is the deal?

Thanks for the help,
Snotty in Wisconsin

I have the same problem. If it's even the slightest bit cold out, my nose tends to run like a hosepipe. Blowing it doesn't help me, just slows it down for a few minutes until it starts running again. Just keep yourself well stocked in tissues, I'm not sure there really is anything else to do about it.

It's such a common issue that they make running gloves with terrycloth patches to wipe your snot on. It's a very common issue. As for why: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=99844567

Yes, and I wish I knew how to stop it. My nose never ran until I started running now it runs just about every workout, even when I'm not running as part of my workout. I run at the gym, not outside!
