Can't Stop Binge-Eating

Hello guys! I'm back around here because I am facing a problem that, for me, is not easy to solve.

So, for the past few months, I've been dieting and living a healthy lifestyle and been losing weight since. I managed to lose 20 kgs. in 3-4 months. However, just last month, people have been telling me that I need to eat and stop dieting since I looked malnourished and some even told me I legit looked like a drug addict- my teachers, friends, and even not-so-close friends.

I followed what they said and stopped dieting 2 weeks ago. I started eating a lot and by a lot, I mean 3000-6000 calories per day. And now. I LOOK LIKE *kitten*. I am bloated, my sharp jawline is gone, my manboobs are back, and so on. I want to stop binge-eating and go back to dieting, but it seems like I can't. I tried monitoring my caloric intake again and tried to do a 500-calorie deficit everyday, but I just couldn't- I just eat and eat and eat a lot (rice, chocolates, cookies, chips, coffee with creamer and sugar, and etc.)

What should I do? I gained 8 kgs. in 2 weeks and I don't even think this is water weight whatsoever. :(

Replies

  • Well, my friend suggested I should try the diet pills she's taking, but it had no label whatsoever. I also don't want to resort to those things bc the adverse effects of those pills might outweigh its "intended use."

I have struggled and fought and wrestled with binge-eating quite a lot.

My suggestions is to imagine that you are walking down stairs to get back to the level of self-control that you were at before. Instead of eating Only Healthy Things at a Proper Dutiful Calorie Deficit all OVERNIGHT, try having several days to eat only healthy foods but in whatever portions your body craves. No mental portion control, simply eat good food slowly and listen to your body. Let yourself be full.

Then, once you feel better, congratulate yourself on that victory and ask yourself where you want to go from there.

It really helps if you have a friend with whom you can openly talk about wanting to binge.

Often times, the desire to eat food is actually a desire for something else in my life. If sense that I have a NEED of some kind, and I go to food to satiate, when in reality I need a conversation, a walk in the brisk cold, a back rub, a shower, water, etc. Try to figure out what you actually want.

I suggest avoiding the internet, movies, and television shows as they distract me from life and distract me from what's really going on in my head. Gravitate towards any kind of physical sensation: take a cold shower, run in the mist, sweat, play on a playground, choreograph a dance to your favorite song, pet a dog blahblah blah etc. Fill yourself up with the rest of life.

    You got this!

You have to want to stop eating that much... Start by throwing out anything in your kitchen with added sugar e.g. Cookies! Then replace these with non-processed foodstuffs: salad, carrots, fruit. That way even if you overeat, you'll be doing less harm. These foods will also make you feel fuller for longer. And up your water intake! Don't be scared of drinking a lot.
