Hi, there! My name is Maria (Birdy989). I just started my first day yesterday, and am looking for new friends! My diary is open to friends, and I'm especially interested in peeps who are interested in lifestyle changes involving real food. I'm on day 34 of the "100 Days of Real Food" challenge. I wrote my first blog post about it here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Birdy989/view/100-days-of-real-food-challenge-535828
I'm in my 30s, female, a Christian, and live in a very (very) rural area. Farmers markets is all about where it's at. No Trader Joes or Whole Foods here by me. Let's connect as friends!

Great blog post! I am SO sensitive to so many foods (or rather, what's in those foods) so eating clean is a MUST for me. I eat an almost exclusive plant-based diet, with the exception of farm raised organic hen eggs. I am celiac so cannot eat gluten, I'm allergic to milk, I cannot tolerate MSG and numerous other additives/chemicals. Processed foods make me ill, as does corn.
So whilst is hard work, and sometimes a hassle for me to eat (especially when it comes to variety) I am thankful that I can improve my health by eating wonderful plant based foods that are not harming me in the way much of the processed rubbish out there does.
I thrive best on complex carbs, lots of fruit and veggies, some legumes and brown rice, this means that I may not lose as fast as those on a higher protein diet since my carb intake is quite high, but I am fine with that. Slow and steady is all I am hoping for0 -

Thanks! I, too, am trying to go mostly plant-based. Have you read Dr. Joel Fuhrman's "Eat to Live?" ("Eat for Health" is his follow-up book.) If not, you must! It's very inspirational and educational. I also love legumes (although I'm trying to stay away from rice). I eat lentils and chick peas quite a bit. Is there a place on here to search for and upload recipes?0 -
Yes I have! Have you watched Forks Over Knives? Great documentary! Also The China Study is an amazing book...
Not sure if there are any recipes on here, but Pinterest have heaps, and also Youtube0
