First 5K in a while and lost inches!

So this morning I ran my first 5K since July 4, 2011. Last July 4, I was 9 months pregnant, to give a little perspective. It wasn't an official 5K, just a path I marked off with Google Earth. I jogged all of it except parts of the 3 up hills, which I walked. Time, 38 min 20 sec. That's just over a 12 mile min. Would have been better if there had been no hills, but whatever. I hated the run (running bores me), but it felt good to accomplish it. I'll probably do it about twice a month, now that the weather is getting better.
The other victory this week is a loss of inches! I weighed in last Sunday and won't do that again for 3 more weeks (the scale lies to me, you know), but I am taking weekly measurements. Waist came down 1/2" and hips came down 3/4" since last Sunday! That's a total of 3 3/4" in the waist and 2 1/4" in the hips since I joined a little over 5 weeks ago!
Today I tried on a shirt I made that I had worn about 2 or 3 weeks ago. It was a bit tight then, but wearable. Today, it's almost a perfect fit. Give me another week or two and it will fit like it was made for me! Oh wait, it was made for me (including all the idiosyncrasies of figure that scoliosis gives me). So it will fit me like it was made to fit me!
I'm so glad I found MFP! It has given me the edge I need to eat smarter (mostly watching portion sizes, because my diet hasn't changed at all, just the number of calories).

Congratulations on your progress.
I believe that body measurements are a better indicator than weight scale.
I got rid of 23 pounds in 15 months. The last 5 pounds took almost 6 months.
Keep up the good work.
Good luck in your journey0 -
