Weight loss compliments

I was feeling discouraged. I was occasionally getting compliments on my weight loss (30 pounds down) but not many and only from people who knew I was working on it. Friday I stepped on the scale to learn is gained 2 pounds that week. I knew it had to be water retention or something because I'd eaten perfectly and worked out like normal, but it is still a crappy thing to see! I also noticed that my pants had gotten to the point that they were uncomfortable baggy. But I have a goal of being under 200 before I turn thirty in a few months, so that gain was frustrating.
Then came the compliments. I helped with a consignment sale that I do only twice a year so many of the ladies hadn't seen me since I startd to lose. They were not only commenting on my weight loss, but also were shocked to learn that I wasn't down more than 33 pounds! This was very encouraging as I have been working hard on building muscle so I feel that I must be losing a good amount of fat and must be less jiggly. All this weekend everyone I saw commented on my loss. I am not sure what the change was but it was so nice after a disappointing weigh in to be complimented so much.
Anyone else suddenly reach a point where they went from little to no comments to constant?

Yes. Most importantly, compliment yourself. Look in the mirror and say, "Damn, I look good!!!"0

I get complements quite often now, but less so earlier on. I live in a rural small town, so everyone knows me.0

Yes! My first one came from an acquaintance who hadn't seen me since May. He was like, "WHOA! YOU LOOK GOOD!" and since then, i have been getting them left and right...although part of me thinks it is a response to my constant strutting around feelin like a babe on the inside, too.0

I've been doing this a lot lately....I've noticed I get more compliments from others recently and I'm thinking it might just be a bit of lifted self esteem that other people pick up on. You're doing great!0 -
I am jumping for joy inside because I am almost down 35 pounds. I know people notice because it is obvious I have lost weight. I am so happy with my progress that I don't care what other people say or think.0

My first compliment was from a friend I hadn't seen since I started losing weight, she pulled me aside at a party to ask if I had and congratulate me around 15lb down. Second was a co-worker at 17lb down while we were sitting alone together during a slow time at work. Third and finally so far, my boss blurted out that I was looking rather skinny at 20lb down in the middle of our surgery suite during the busiest time at work. I found that last one entertaining because before I started losing weight, he would ask me almost monthly if I was (it's his go-to compliment to tell women they look like they're losing weight). He hadn't said anything of that nature to me in several months at that point.
Many of my friends know now, and I think they refrain from comment because they know there can be frustrating plateaus or backslides and a comment at the wrong time can be upsetting. A lack of compliments from people I know doesn't bother me though. I'm doing this for myself.0 -
I met a friend of a friend last year when I was 40 pounds heavier...he was a masseur and I got an awesome massage from him....now every time I see him he's like "WOW you look smaller every time I see you!!" I think others don't notice as much because I used to be very thin so any progress I've made thus far is still "not good enough" to people who are used to seeing me smaller. But since he met me as a bigger person, it's very apparent that I'm smaller. If you're happy with yourself, that's the best part!0

I have gotten a few compliments, but a lot of people that I see every single day don't really notice my changes that much. It is nice to hear them, but even without them I'll keep on goin XD0
