My simplest way to explain calories burned...
You burn calories in 3 ways.
1. BMR - this is what your body uses to keep you alive. To pump blood, circulate oxygen, digest food, maintain body temp, etc. Based on your gender, height, weight, age.
2. Regular activity - this is what it takes to move you thru your day, thru your normal events in life. Running errands, your job, moving around your home, etc. How much you burn depends on your lifestyle & your body size. Generally its represented as a % of your BMR, and based on sedentary, active, etc. A mail delivery person would burn more than a standard 40 hour a week deskjob. And a 200 pound man would burn more than a 100 pound woman even if the job, lifestyle was exactly the same.
3. Intentional exercise - this is when you move when the goal is to exercise. How much you burn will depend on the activity, intensity, duration.
As to your post. 9 days is not enough to judge what you're doing. But its never too early to reassess so that you can put together a plan that is reasonable for you, long term. If 1400 is your BMR (I rounded off) and you're sedentary (I don't know) then your daily burn from 1 + 2 would be approximately 1680. If you're lightly active, 1820. These are based on standard multipliers in the fitness/health loss world. They're approximates, so this part is trial and error. To lose 1 pound a week you'd eat between 1180 (maybe not the best plan) and 1320.
Then comes #3. If you exercise, you burn more - but your plan based on 1 & 2 above already has a deficit. So if you feel the need to eat more, do.0 -

you mean i should eat 1680 cals or 1320 I didn't understand !!0 -
I would say you should eat more than 1405. Your profile says you have < 20 lbs to lose so 2 lbs a week is very agressive. Switch your settings to 1 lb per week and enter a realistic activity level. Then eat what MFP tells you to eat. If you exercise beyond your activity level, log it and eat more.0

so after i spend weeks eating 1500 or so and gain, then lose
will i still lose ????0
