Don't go all-out crazy in the beginning. I had a friend that would start a new diet and start crazy hard workouts at the same time. She typically ended up injuring herself and then quitting her new diet.

Keep trying new things. It took me awhile to find something I liked. Liking your workout will help you be consistent.

For newbie exercise start with low impact....Jessica Smith TV is great on YouTube. She has several areas.....dance, weights, kickboxing, power walking....and Hiit (high impact) when you're ready.

If you're looking for a DVD - Leslie Sansone Just Walk (Walk at Home) are great for low impact cardio. Good starter DVDs because you can do whatever you have time for. You can dumb down any higher impact moves as needed. These are easy to adapt to your own level. These are available at Target, Best Buy, etc.

This site is great for viewing video clips.....http://www.collagevideo.com/collections/leslie-sansone

Well, what are you goals in exercising? Are you trying to lose weight? Prepare for a 5k, 10k, marathon? Just wanting to be more active? Know what you are trying to accomplish and then you put those exercises into your day. Workout at least 5 times a day, even if only for 10 or 15 minutes a day - it's better than nothing!

Also, what kind of exercise would you prefer? Do you like running? Do you prefer going to the gym and/or lifting weights? Maybe you would prefer just using your body weight for exercise, and so can do plyometrics and basic strength training. It all depends on you and there are so many options!

Also, if you're just starting out, don't try to compare yourself to others. Focus only on you and your progress! Your goals are all that matter to you, not someone else. So if you have to take it nice and easy at first, do it! You'll slowly get better and then you can find yourself doing more!

So know you goals, know what you like, and start! Might be slow going at first. But stick with it and you'll be amazed at what you can do!

    0. Some people will need to seek medical advice first. do so if you have to. I didnt I just needed to get off the sofa.
    1. start off slowly and gradually increase
    2. build in some rest days
    3. Dont overdo it so you dont get burnt out and give up or have injuries (this is a personal one - I guess you have to listen to your body)
    4. Work as hard as you can at every workout. Always try and perform better at the next workout.
    5. Add a mixture of cardio and strength workouts
    6. If you can find something you enjoy that helps otherwise just force it into your daily routine like I do.
