Hi,
I need advice on workouts or exercises i should be focusing on to help with me getting into the British Army.
I,m still away off target yet but getting nearer each day.
I tried joining a few years a go but was too heavy
I recently started running each day and this month have reached a total of 102 KM ran which i,m amazed i,ve managed this as running has never been my strong point i,m just putting this down to sheer determination to get into the army.
Any Advice and info would be so very much appreciated!
Thank you
Vikki

running is the biggest thing. Then I'd work on upper body and core strength. Pushups, pullups, situps.0

Core is extremely important and will help with running and push ups and sit ups. In fact, a strong core is essential to almost any exercise in existance.
Try starting off with kettlebells. It will strengthen your core a lot. And keep up the running!
I'm US Army, not British, but I hope you still like my advice.0 -
Thank you for the advice and will focus on upper strength as well as well as running.
Would it be an idea to work on both at the same time i.e daily as in run in the morning and do strength at night?
Or would i end up burning myself up like this?0 -
If you have already figured this out already by attending the Selection Centre, then my apologies.
But the main thing you need to concentrate on is running, press ups, sit ups and heaves (pull ups with palms facing you).
I would suggest circuit training and heavy lifting to complement your running.
The closest thing I have found to military circuit training is Insanity, but without the ear ache.
Hope you get/got on ok.
