INSPIRATION--Would like to hear 1500 cal per day weight loss stories-from those close to weight goal

For inspiration - would like to hear stories of those who were able to lose eating 1500 cals per day (no exercise, or minimal exercise-- I do get some but not enough to "count" it in my calorie count or eat back any). MFP of course says to eat 1200 which is not doable (short term or long term for me!)

Stats - female 5.6 - 145, looking to lose 10 lbs by Christmas

1500 calories is an ok amount to eat at for losing weight, but to get the best results you are going to need to exercise. Even if it's just something simple like walking it will help you burn calories and build muscle which will burn fat. Losing 10 pounds by Christmas is a realistic goal though and if you stay consistent with nutrition and exercise you should be able to lose 1-2 pounds a week and make that goal. Just check the scale once every 2-3 weeks and see if you need to adjust your calories. If you are losing at a rate of 1-2 pounds a week you are on track and if not you adjust from there.

At your stats a body recomp would probably be a better way to go. I'm an inch taller than you and 5 lb lighter, and I'll be lucky to see 135 by Christmas. Setting your calorie goal for maintenance or a slight deficit, lift heavy weights, and eat lots of protein, and you'll retain your lean body mass and lose fat.

If you just try to diet your way down without any kind of strength training, you're going to lose more muscle and you probably won't be happy with how you look at 135.

You are absolutely right of course. I will need to start lifting (that is actually my preferred exercise; circuit training or straight lifting) But right now, my life doesn't allow for any formal exercise regiman, so I'm going with what I can do right now.

No time for body weight training at home? DVDs?

The only way to meet the goal in time is to have at least a 1000 calorie deficit. If that puts you below 1200 and you do not want to eat that little, you gotta exercise.

1000 per day deficit for 10 lbs by Christmas? Wow my math must be completely wrong!
But yes, no time right now for formal exercise program (I do fit in 10 mins here and there but nothing substantial enough that I would log it)
