Who else lifts?

I just started lifting about two months ago. I have learned a lot about my body and what it needs. So who else lifts and has good tips for lifting or nutrition? My goals is to get to 17% bf. I am currently 24.8% I went from 34.3 -> 24.8.

I lift. I have been lifting with barbells for exactly a year and I also Crossfit. I just hit 3 plates: 315 on my deadlift. I am in my first powerlifting comp in a few weeks. I am at about your same body fat (well I was at 25% in July) and would like to get down to about 20. I started out about where you were. I have been consistently losing about 1% per month using Eat to Perform and have really increased my lifts in the time I've been using it. I've never done a bulk and cut; I have remained the same weight the whole time eating around 2500-3000 calories per day.

I lift on my own about three times a week and take classes a few times a week that include weights. I pretty much just eat clean with the occasional cheat. It works for me and I find that if I eat crappy I can't perform properly in my classes. My BF has been giving me my workouts lately but before that I used Bodybuilding.com and magazines for ideas.

Following a proven program is probably the best way to go about it when getting started (NROLFW - they really need a catchier name... but also, Starting Strength, Stronglifts 5x5, etc.). Some might considered these programs a bit boring/repetitive but they've been proven to be effective time and time again. The only other tip I'd have is really pay attention to your form. To some degree injuries are inevitable because life isn't perfect, but you want to do everything you possibly can to minimize your risk, and that all starts with learning and following proper form.

I've been lifting off and on since the mid 80s, though I took most of the 90s off. I got a neurological disease in 2011 that affected my balance, so it is not safe for me to carry plates and heavy dumbells from the rack to the bench anymore. Now mostly limited to machines. My workouts are probably still a little stuck in the 80s, with more emphasis on isolation over compound moves than is currently fashionable.

New lifter (n00b) gains are the best and easiest of your life. It's going to get a hell of a lot harder once linear progression is no longer possible.

6 times a week. Currently cutting so my lifts are getting harder. Feel free to add me as a friend.

315 deadlift is awesome! Congrats! That was my new years fitness goal (Well one of them) to deadlift 3 plates and to squat 2 plates. (I exceeded both! YAY!)

I lift as well. I compete in strong(wo)man and have competed in a powerlifting competition. The nutrition thing is always difficult for me. I need to cut bodyfat but am trying to do it very slowly so it doesn't affect my strength gains. Not sure what my bf% sits at now but I'd guess I need to lose about 20-30 lbs of fat.

I get really jealous of girls who lift super heavy. I just want to GET THERE already.

    You and me both!

But even lifting light (but consistently), I'm seeing results, and that is sooo motivating.

Sorry OP, that's my only tip: keep at it. It works.

< Lifting. Protein is your friend. And carbs. Carbs are great while lifting.

I'm a lifting noob, just moved up to 20lb dumbells. I don't really have any lifting goals other than "get stronger" but I do love it.

I have been lifting for a year now. Just started to add protein shakes. Just alittle worried that they will make
  • I'm new to lifting like others I noticed on the post. 3 times a week with a switch up every 6. It's been surprisingly relaxing. I wanna drop 10% of body fat...almost what I was in high school but I need leave some to fill the wrinkles in my face. lol
