I need HELP!

How do I get back to normally eating from being sick for a week. I could eat, so I survived on water, gatorade, and dry toast. NOW for the last two days I am starving. I don't want to ruin my diet by binge eating, It took me almost 3 years to retrain myself out of binge eating! Any suggestions... please

Eat a healthy, balanced meal. Not too big. Repeat a few hours later.

After I'm sick I give myself a day or two to really eat. After those days though I tend to find that myself, I'm right back on track. I think that part of it is that once we heal from being sick our bodies need more energy and that's why we get so hungry after a bout of sickness.

Try foods that will keep you full longer and eat every few hours. I can't recall, which foods so you may need to do the leg work on that one... I know that whole grains and beans really make me feel full with very little eaten. Good luck and I am glad you are feeling better.

Not that this is the same but I recently had major surgery. I gave myself permission not worry about eating for a few weeks in order to let my body heal. I wouldn't jump right back into eating at a deficit. Let your body readjust and to heal itself.

If you had been sick for a week and ate literally nothing but water and gatoraide, you probably need to ease back into eating ... stay away for starches and starchy carbs ... fill up on broths with veggies steamed in the broth, have an egg, eat some tuna, chomp on some shrimp, drink some teas and put a bit of lemon and honey in it. Maybe make a green smoothie for a meal with protein in it. Also, don't be afraid to add some fat in the form of good fats, like from coconut and olives. Eat some nuts. The extra fat and protein in the coconut, tuna, shrimp, nuts and egg will help you feel full for longer than lower or no fat items. You want stuff that will take a while to run through your body, that's why starchy carbs and sweet stuff is out ... they just deplete too quickly and you are hungry again, big time, way too soon.
