Eat This Not That Books

Just wondering if anyone has read the Eat This Not That books? I first saw this format as a feature in the Men's Health magazines my husband used to buy. Then they compiled it into little 8x8 size books.. Its very entertaining, interesting, and eye -opening to see how typical restaurant and prepared foods stack up in side-by-side comparisons. With lots of pictures! (Haha..."food porn"). But seriously, I am finding the comparisons really helpful when faced with restaurant food choices that will work with my calorie budget.

I have a few of the books. Very eye opening and interesting. I subscribe to their email newsletter as well. It's shocking to learn the outrageous amounts of fat in some restaurant foods.

I have a couple of the books and I do find them fascinating to read. One thing to pay attention to though, is the portion size of the "Not That" foods. Like the one that comes to mind are Outback Cheese Fries, which have I think around 2,000 calories in them. Now that is a lot of calories, but I don't know many people who eat an entire order by themselves. I can't remember what the book suggests instead, but I think it is something around 300 calories - so if there are four people eating the cheese fries it is 500 cals each, compared to 300 cals for whatever is recommended. Still a difference - but not the "OMG you saved 1,700 calories by making this choice" that they want you to focus on.
