I do a fruit tray, usually.

    Also, meatballs
    Cheese pinwheels
Fried Chicken (that you buy from KFC or Popeyes)
    Cheese cake
    Pies
    Cookies...

(sorry - apparently hungry - LOL)

Are you thinking a hot dish, cold dish, dessert?

I love making lasagna, pulled pork or sweet and sour meatballs for a hot dish.

Cold dish I usually make a pasta salad, deviled eggs or some kind of charcuterie board.

Dessert it's all about that cheeeeeesecake.

oh...if you're not concerned about 'healthy'

    then I go with:
    - brownies
    - cookies
    - pie
    - biscuits w/ honey butter on the side. The honey butter makes a difference
    - cupcakes
    - baked beans
    - chili
    - mashed potatoes
    - dump cake

I normally try to bring something with modest calories so I know there will be at least one thing I can eat. A few dishes I use which don't look worse for wear sitting around the buffet table for a few hours.

Hummus with veggie sticks and nachos for the non dieters.
Other vegetable based dips such as Marcella Hazan's boiled carrot Moroccan salad.
Salad of quinoa, edamame, blanched snow peas and sundried tomato with vinaigrette.
    Tabouleh.
In general salads containing a grain such as barley, quinoa, or bulghur. Yotam Ottolenghi does several recipes like this.
    Greek salad.
Mixed roasted vegetables (courgette, aubergine, red peppers, squash, asparagus, green beans) dressed in some balsamic or sherry vinegar.
